Eris to v2.x, when?

I'm using two accounts with the app. It works just fine. Switching between the accounts is a little cumbersome, but not unbearably so.
I'm thinking that if both of those accounts are push through the GMail app that would be awesome. It would save on my battery since I only have two other email accounts. Once polls every 4 hours (gmail) the other polls ever 24 hours (school email through LiveMail). Thanks for the info. Anyone test it out with Exchange yet?

Ok...I said I would stay away from the forums for a week but was really bored in class today. So I saw 2.1 leaked. Well, I'm no fool, I DL'd that real quick and tonight I installed. It's great.

Pros:

Real fast, responsive (without tactile vibration), and intuitive. I would say a more enhanced version of 1.5 w/sense.

Anyone who is holding out, go for it. You can downgrade if you don't like it.

Cons:

I don't care what anyone says I like the tactile response with typing. Unfortunately it's VERY laggy with it on. With it off, it's super responsive but I'm still used to my vibration.

No animated wallpaper. Guess that will be in the OTA.

Instructions:

1. DL the zip files
2. put it on your SD card, (not in a folder, just e,f,d,h,i:\)
3. turn off
4. hold power+call button
5. press volume down key to HBOOT
6. press the track ball
7. press the track ball again
8. wait
9. wait
10. 2.1 w/sense BAM!

actually it has been confirmed that you CANNOT downgrade ....

anyone else having signal issues? i thought it was going to get better but its either the same or worse than before, i've done the *288 and i get an error message.

any help?

If you dial *22899 it will do everything without you choosing an option. That's the one I do as default.

Any change in battery life with 2.1? Speed? Sorry if I missed the answers already posted....thanks.

My typical morning routine generally leaves me with about 30% by 8:00AM (it involves some heavy usage in the morning starting at 4:30AM).

Today I got up at 4:00 AM, typical heavy usage, and had 45% left...

It's not definitive, but SEEMS to be better.

Take this for what it's worth.

I know, I should have edited that post. But with people coming in, asking the SAME thing 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 times got to me. If they'd take the time to atleast try to read some of the thread, they would see that their questions have been answered, and answered, and answered and answered. All their posts do is clog up the thread making it worse for people trying to talk about new issues.

Anyways, goooooooosss-fraba

While I agree with you....

Some people find the idea of reading through 3100+ posts in this thread... a bit daunting.

A viable alternative to that is to use the provided search feature.

+1

Doing a search isn't rocket science ... and you'll ultimately get your answer faster than if you take the time to post and then sit around waiting for someone to respond.

Haha Boosh, cash.

Upadte:

Chomp SMS, so far (*knocks on wood*) no problems with texts! It actually is a better program than handcent as well, muchh snappier :D. The only reason i wans't using it in the first place was MMS..but my MMS doesn't work anyone so eff it. :D

I was actually thinking about rubbing it in the faces of the VZW store employees tomorrow. Gotta go there for some other business, but I wanna walk in there and ask the same girl I asked a month ago "when's 2.1 coming?" and she'll say, again, "oh, 1.6 was just pushed out, 2.0 should be out next week." I'll kick her in the throat, flash her the firmware version, and walk out.

Damn VZW people.

I'll be right behind you. My sales person told me that we would get 2.0 after the Moto Droid got 2.1. HA! take that Motorola, HTC got 2.1 before you did.
2.x When? How about NOW!!! Definitely worth the 30 mins it took to download it and set it up. So really aside from the processor speed this is almost a nexus one...??? A $99 Droid phone.

G's, I had stepped away from reading the forums (as to not watch and wait for the water to boil), funny how certian adages hold true. Anarchy.... Nice.

I liked how in 1.5 when you sent a text it would appear in your conversation with a little green circle showing you its sending/working. Now with 2.1 it pops up and says please wait. It's pretty damn annoying basically like a down grade shows less multi-tasking capabilities because now i cant leave the conversation until the text fully sends.

Only other complaint is when in full keyboard move (phone sideways) it's very difficult to click the button bottom left to return to the conversation screen. I tried calibrating the screen but no luck. Anyone else notice this?

These are my only complaints and yes i realise its only a leak hopefully these bugs are fixed in the real update.

Hello all! Long time lurker, first time poster!

I missed checking the site on Wed. Checked on Thursday and bang! A crap load of new posts. I had to go back 10+ pages to catch up and see what happened. I assumed the OTA came out and I somehow didn't get it on my phone. I was excited to read about the leak.

After catching up and reading ALL the posts, I dove in head first! I followed the given instructions and what was displayed on my screen and everything went PERFECTLY! (I had to press Vol down and the Trackball...)

I AM LOVING 2.1!!

Some comments to what has been asked...

Battery : My battery seems to be better than it was, but like everyone else, I played with it a LONG time yesterday!

Lag : I agree, it seemed a little laggy, but then I turned off Haptic Feedback and it really speeds everything up!

Multiple GMail accounts : I loaded 4. Worked fine. This morning I decided to go back to K-9 mail as I like the option of having the Arrows and Delete buttons displayed while reading. I like K-9 overall. So I remove all but 1 Gmail account from the stock app and moved the other 3 to K-9.

Navigation : One word.... ROCKS! The Navigation is awesome. That alone is worth taking the plunge now!

Regrets : I have none. My only concern was if I was going to brick my phone... other than that. I see no reason not to upgrade.

Thanks to all that helped with this procedure and thanks to all that contribute to the forum! Makes owning my Eris exciting!
