i actually lowered mine and got better performance.

thats wired cuz i chanded mines on rom toolbox and that never happen u could changed ur vm size with lg optimizer

Yes, you can. That's how I changed mine. Also root explorer.

I changed mine to 48 from 96. I think it has better performance, also I've gotten less crashes.

yes root explorer works also, open build.prop in editor and make sure you save settings and reboot the phone.
