Eris to v2.x, when?

o.k. the verdict is in!! after DLing and changing and tweeking a few things on my NEW Eris 2.1 phone i love it! was a little nervous at 1st and it was a little laggy but now it runs awesome. the one thing i did to make run smoother and recommend to whomever decides to make the leap turn off the haptic feedback and auto sync for battery! runs much better this way. haven't missed it(haptic feedback) one bit sense doing so.....so there. helps some

JrzDroid - it doesn't matter if you were joking or not - even if you weren't joking, asking for (deserved) thanks isn't nearly as bad as calling someone out on it.

About the wait for OTA vs use the leaked version - I am waiting, like many others, because it appears that the OTA will be coming very soon at this point. Hell, the leaked version was a great way to get thousands of free testers (not saying that's what VZ/HTC did, but it serves that function anyway). I mostly just want to be sure I'll get any future OTAs that may come.

all i can say is that the link there is legit and not the corrupted/patched leak, should be identical as far as build numbers go though.

i would not just post a random link from a unreliable source. i am here for the community, not to be popular.

that said, as with any OS release, neither I or AndroidForums is responsible for any problems.

Thank you Caddy, it really is appreciated. I'll be installing this puppy as soon as I get home. Now I probably need to go back into my sd card and delete the zip I put on there for the leak right? Then just replace it with this and do the same procedure I did the first time?

you know this was the first file i downloaded, but was unsure if i wanted to convert. so i deleted it. then decided what the hell and couldn't find it again. i ended downloading the 2nd one i came across which was under JRZ sig. kinda glad now. looks like nobody wants to try.

Before I updated I downloaded both of them also(yesterday). I ended up using the one that JRZ now links to, but they were both the same file size. Which doesn't necessarily mean that they are exactly the same, but it did make me feel warm and fuzzy inside...

Haha Boosh, cash.

Upadte:

Chomp SMS, so far (*knocks on wood*) no problems with texts! It actually is a better program than handcent as well, muchh snappier :D. The only reason i wans't using it in the first place was MMS..but my MMS doesn't work anyone so eff it. :D
I can't find Chomp in the market. Did you get it there or did you restore a backup of it from 1.5?

Has anyone compared checksums between the two ? As posted over at xda, it appears obvious that someone intentionally changed the file to cause the "corruption" and it was easily corrected. You can't force this kind of thing to be "okay". I venture to say that the "patched" version is perfectly good.

Do you know/have you tried to see if the version you are using/listed has embedded pics show up in gmail or not?

i sent a email to my gmail acct (that i never use) with a jpg attached, and i clicked to open the email on my phone and the picture automatically displayed in the body. is that what you mean?

The problem is with embedded pictures, not attached ones.

I created MD5 checksums on the (2) different ROMs. Here's the results:

MD5 checksum

Patched, broken (?) version:
BD6B08D32948022C865C79DCC61AE449

"legit" version:
BD6B08D32948022C865C79DCC61AE449

those are umm the same.....

this is getting confusing to say the least lol

If the picture is attached it works fine but if the picture is embedded it does now show up, which wasn't a problem in 1.5. For example, I use Thunderbird as a mail client for my other account. If I drag the image onto the email under 1.5 it worked with out an issue, but with 2.1 no dice. But, if I click attach image with my email client and send a picture it works totally fine. I get emails like that once in a while from friends a companies, so I would like it to work like it did in 1.5.

Let me make it clear:

The ROMs posted yesterday at thekrtek.net are the same as the one posted by Caddyman today. Someone took the patched ROM image and said it was the "legit" version.
