***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

I think if the Incredible launches as mid tier there is going to be some FCC beatdowns lol. People are gonna riot on this thread. Yeah a CDMA Desire would own. The Incredible is supposed to be our Desire right?

Either way, nothing is set in stone until the phone is officially announced. Maybe the real deal is under lock and key ya know? Maybe we haven't seen the final product, only test models.

I think we all assumed (maybe incorrectly) that the Incredible was our Desire, except - none of the specs match the Desire's specs! Or am I just high?

We don't know yet, the final specs havent been released. This b*tch could come out with a non-underclocked 1ghz processor, 500+ ram, 5+ mp cam, HD video, I mean we don't know yet.

All of this guessing is just that... Guessing. We don't really know until HTC or VZW announce this.

It is crazy how many mood swings this board goes through (I am not excluding myself either).

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS PHONE!
This phone is going to be horrible, when is N1 coming out?
I HATE THAT BACK PLATE BUT I LOVE THE SPEED!
This is the "incredible" phone we were supposed to get?
HD VIDEO!
5 MP camera?!?!?!

I don't know if people are going to be happy or disappointed when this phone comes out, but nothing except the name is confirmed!

exactly what I've been saying... We could all be surprised in the end (in a good way too!)

Well, I just got this from Verizon in my email:

Picture11.png

This tells me:

1. They are likely discontinuing the Eris.
2. They are worried about the Droid competing with the N1.
3. The Devour is position as a mid-range phone.
4. Something(s) new is/are coming after March 18th.

If anything, I think this is a good sign.

I know, I know........Just sitting here thinking and dreaming.

It'll be alright, it will all work out. Get some sweet carolina sweet tea vodka, that's what I'm gonna be doing tonight, but I won't be sitting here drinking it haha ;)

What is this over 21 beverage you mention? Sounds like something I would like!

With the Droid rooted and running nicely at 970mhz, if the Incredible comes out underclocked....umm...so what? I'll root that baby and get it up to speed. I'm definitely not worried about the RAM...I doubt that RAM + ROM will only end up being 256.

1) I think we've heard that from a poster on this site, right?
2) They should be..but if you MUST have a physical keyboard...
3) ...I would say maybe Devour is low range and Droid is about to be middle hopefully?
4) yeppers.

It really isn't about being lazy, it is about not reading the same questions over and over again that no one has the answers to yet.

Nobody knows how much RAM this will have for sure. Nobody knows the MegaPixels of the Camera for sure. Etc...

But you know there are at least one or two posts a day asking about that and other things.

It was just a suggestion, not everyone has the amount of time to stay glued to this thread 24/7 as others so I thought it might be helpful.

I agree with this 100%, as I requested the same type of change earlier. It would be easy to make the initial post of a new thread, the place to continually update with real information. I have seen a lot of bug report threads just like that, so everyone can log in and quickly get the latest info in a consolidated spot.

As far as being lazy, please reconsider that comment. My time is literally worth $5000/hr to my company, based on revenue I produce for them directly. When I or anyone else here says it takes too much time to filter through all the many repostings of the exact same info, over and over, quite possibly we aren't actually lazy, but simply wish to be more efficient.

Is the name Incredible even really confirmed :D

Forums are microcosms of the interwebz...lot of info, some of it actually useful. If you consider yourself too busy, then just read the homepages of the various big websites out there....forums like this is the largely unedited and oft repeated, hyperkinetic buzz bin where ideas/schemes/dreams/facts are poured out the fastest.

No problem.

I agree there is nothing we can get from now until launch that isn't an official spec list with no real surprises or a release date.

In regards to ram read this link (which looks like wonderbread got yelled at):
Android 2.1 limited to 256MB SDRAM? - xda-developers

The amount of ram that Dev reported could have been available ram, which all non rooted and kernel updated phones only have 256MB ram available. So it very well could have been on the device he had (and we get) just no one can play with it until the kernel is updated.

In regards to camera sensor. I don't think it matters if we get 5 or 8. I doubt they will upgrade the rest of the optics and innards. The only thing I know about the rest of a camera is that it is more important than the sensor and is usual filled with cheap parts on a phone.

For everyone on this page whining about memory check this out. I guess I am the only one that read this link? I have been one of the people saying that there is no way this phone will come out w/ less than 512 RAM, but evidently it doesn't matter. Read the article. I am willing to bet that these people know quite a bit more about Android OS and memory than 95% of us.

Unless you are going to root your phone, it doesn't matter if comes out with 2 GB of memory.

I don't see why they would change it this far down the road but they could surprise us with a new name and a good looking phone....?

I think at this point, all the posts about wanting to make a new thread about every little single new detail are irrelevant. The Mods are not going to do anything.. so essentially, these posts are becoming "clutter" which is the exact thing you are complaining about. If you feel like you have better things to do with your time, then I'd conclude that a forum is not the ideal source for your information, and would encourage you to maybe read newspapers or online tech sites which, as someone earlier put it, have headlines and isn't costing you or your company that $5000/hr.

Rather than meaning a new Eris, he could have just meant a new HTC phone, just like when he mentioned the Devour to me, he said it was the new Droid. He probably didn't know anything about these phones, other than what he's been told to refer to them as if asked about them.
Could he be talking about the HTC Nexus one, and not the Incredible though?

That article refers back to the original Neowin blog that stated the March 23rd date last month.. I don't think thats any further confirmation.

Yes, I was the one who had received word (and posted here) that the Eris had gone E.O.L. as of last week. All Verizon is doing now is selling through the ones that are already in the pipeline.

Also, note that 3/18 is the last day of Verizon's POINTS offer - not necessarily the last day of the special prices on the phones. They'll keep those offers going until they feel that they have reached sufficient inventory levels on them and can then release a new phone without sitting on a ton of Droids in the process. So, this date may mean something - or absolutely nothing at all.

EDIT: And -yes- I get just as antsy as the rest of you here when I see ANY date being tossed around out there! Just trying not to get my hopes up too high! :)

I have a different theory as you but kinda the same....

My guess is that the Incredible will be sold same day as the Motorola Devour. It is typical for Verizon to sell I high end phone and a low end phone to consumers to give them options. I have been talking to a rep for a independent store (not held to follow verizon's rules) and they have the Devour now and I almost walked out with it. I was able to hold it and play with it as much as I could without it being activated. This was last week and he stated that he has had the phone for 2 weeks.

I reached out to him this Monday and he stated that there is going to be a phone that is going to be release the same day as the Devour (March 15th). He is awaiting more information from his manager. I also hope that he gets it early as he promised to call me and sell it to me that day. I will post what I can as I get it, but he is 90% sure its another Android phone. Since we know that the N1 is coming around the 23rd time frame, we can only hope that its the Incredible.
Did he say that it was a Verizon phone? Are any other carriers releasing any upcoming Android phone?

I know this has been said and talked about, but I am going to e-mail VZW again about the N1 and see what response they give me about it being sold and if in-store.
It can't hurt to see the different responses we get. The last e-mail I received back was informative and she definitely confirmed the Incredible (I know we already knew that, but it hasn't been offically confirmed yet) Maybe I'll get something interesting. I will copy and paste the response I get.

EDIT: That is whenever their frickin' website works. Nothing seems to load right on it..
I took the initiative to e-mail them last night for kicks and giggles, just to see if I would get any new info. It looks like they're sending out cookie-cutter messages now. I got the EXACT same message as you earlier:
Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless my name is Manuel and I will be assisting you today. Currently, Verizon Wireless does not offer the Nexus One or the HTC Incredible. I am unable to provide information regarding which equipment is being considered or approximate release dates, as this may raise expectations that may not be met.
Not sure we'll be able to pull any more strings through e-mail.. phone calls might be a possibilty.
