Root [Boost Mobile] I received a donation for the Warp

Hi all

I have done some dev work on the Samsung Prevail, and have helped some people with the CWM for the Warp and Odin for the Transform Ultra

I understand some of you would like me to dev some ROMS, like CM7 and CM9 for the Warp

I explained to Rally 517 that I can not dev ROMS for a phone unless I have it, so he asked if I would do it if I received enough donations to purchase a Warp, and I will do it.

I received a donation today from cartersball for $10 for this purpose

I wanted to make this thread, not to ask people for donations, but to keep track of the donations I have received for the Warp

Please mention that the Donation is for the Warp Purchase and what your Android Forums username is, and I will post it here so everyone can keep track.

Keep in mind that PayPal does charge a fee for the transaction, so I am gonna list the amount I actually received, rather than what was donated.

Again, I am not asking anyone for a donation, If you want to, that is up to you. When I receive enough donations for this purpose, I promise I will use the funds to purchase a Warp, I also promise that i will do my best to try and get CM7 or CM9 working on it, and share my source code.

Keep in mind that I am new to Android Development so this stuff will not be easy for me to do, but I am usually pretty good at figuring things out

If you ever do develop CM7 please oh please let me know how you were able to fix the errors I am getting lol. That would be good enough to me :D

what errors were you getting, do you have your source code on github

were you able to build the CM7

how far did you get

But, it won't get past the splash screen (meaning we don't see the boot screen yet) and adb doesn't completely work.. so were not completely sure how to go about fixing it.. Though I think we need an extract-files.sh so that it can get *everything* that it needs to run which is nonexistant at the moment.
 
made a small donation, wish I could do more but I am sure we have enough guys on here to do this, another thing we could use is someone who is looking to sell their phone, there has to be someone on the forum looking to sell one for cheaper than new...

Not to go too OT, but I wanted to add to what Snake said. The big issue at this point (as I see it) is that the ext4 partitions are not being mounted after flashing. 'adb pull /proc/partitions' shows the partitions are created, however ext4 paritions like system & data aren't mounting. This prevents most adb functionality as adb can't find /system/bin/sh. The CWM log shows that the updater script copies files to /system/bin/xbin so I have to assume the partition exists and files are there. It's just that they can't be "found" due to /system not getting mounted correctly. Anyway, sorry about the OT post, but just wanted to throw that out there in case you had any ideas. Snake linked the main CM7 threads so maybe you can post in one of them if you have any suggestions.

Anyway, thanks for helping out with the Warp. We need all the help we can get. :)

once i am able to get a Warp, I will try to fix CWM and get CM7 working

I want to do CM7 before I try CM9, because CM9 is difficult.

What are the main issues with CWM?
 
the main problem and i think the only problem is when you backup it doesn't back up the data or it dose but when you restore it doesn't restore it

one of the devs said they don't think the clear dalvik fully clears dalvik
 
Adb doesn't work in cwm, it doesn't see sd-ext, or usb, and it's says ums file is missing. Not looking for app2sd with sd-ext, wanted to use it for swap,

It works mint. Usb works, sd-ext mounts. Is adb supposed to see the phone when you run adb devices? When in cwm?

Tested everything else. It works beautifully. Many thanks! Want to take a look at the stock kernal now? I could pm you a link to the tar in my dropbox

does data work?? and yes you should be able to run adb commands and accepts them while in cwm.
 
Adb didn't list any devices when I was in cwm. Every other part works perfectly. Pretty frigging cool to be able to mount usb. I checked it all, didn't freeze in backup or restore. And there is alot of stuff on my phone.

Edit:
Went back tried mounting system, and and data. Still unable to access through adb.

did you mount system and data in the mounts menu ?
 
when I got into cwm and did an adb devices in windows I got list of devices attached ZTEPHONE recovery

not sure how to check the mounts part from adb but from cwm I was able to mount everything except for the sd-ext, which I think is expected with this phone, correct?

if you have not partitioned your sdcard than you do not have sd-ext

If you do partition the sdcard in CWM

BACK IT UP FIRST IT WILL BE FORMATTED
