Now, big phones are coming out with very good hardware. Just asking whether it's worth buying a tablet this month ( something fairly cheap though) , or whether to wait for upcoming releases?

You don't wanna be going too cheap, they're often not worth the heartache and distress. If you want a low priced device, suggest going to reputable supplier in your own country, they can provide proper warranty, tech support and localisations.
