I purchased an HTC Wildfire S at around the end of Jan from Amazon.co.uk and have been over the moon with it.
... until today.
It all started this morning with an almost completely unresponsive top-button. As soon as the screen automatically shut off, that was it, there was no hope to revive it until it decided to spring into life. I lost my rag with it and left it to do its own thing.
Later I needed to use it, so had no choice but to start messing until it decided to listen to me. It had an absolute spaz-out and after 2 or 3 automatic reboots it started working absolutely fine, except for that thing it does where when you are in a call and when you take the phone down from your ear it usually switches the screen on so you can end the call - it stopped doing that, so I had to press the top button to switch the screen visibility on to end the call or switch speaker-phone on or off.
After switching off and on again a while later, it had another spaz-attack. I use Pansi SMS for my texts, or at least I did until it uninstalled itself upon this restart. I also used to use MixZing which seemed also strangely absent upon this restart, not to mention the app menu seemed shorter than I remember it. I suspect that this restart may have launched a roll-back to a restore point of sorts, which I didn't even know it could do! A lot of the things under the "downloaded apps" section of manage apps are now showing up as, for example "com.rovio.angrybirds," "com.mixzing.basic," "bbc.mobile.news.uk" etc instead of the actual app names. The restore point theory falls apart a bit though, considering that BBC News was one of the first apps I installed, but now seems to have gone, but a flashlight app that I installed in the last 48 hours still seems to be around.
Now it is intermittently having problems listening to me when I press the top button to switch the screen on and the thing where it does not pick up the phone movement in call.
I have Avast as my anti virus on the phone, and rest assured I have virus scanned this phones arse off, but it always comes up absolutely squeaky clean.
So, what should I do? Should I return the phone for a replacement? Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Edit: Please let me know if there is any information I can share to help diagnose this (and if it's a tricky bit of info to get to, please let me know how) Many thanks.
