Help Yet another internal memory quandry

I've just tried to download Instagram and it said I couldn't because there was insufficent internal memory so I had a look at my apps to see what i could do to free up some space and after putting them in order of size noticed the Internet app was at the top, or near the top, so I looked at the details and noticdd that it had a lot, about 10 MB of data. SO i figured i'd be better off clearing that than unistalling an app or uninstaling updates and then tried to dl Instagram again this time with success. However'cause I then couldn't transfer INstagram to my SD card I just wrote it off and uninstalled it. In the meantime I'd also uninstalled Dropbox because I'd noticed it wasn't on the SD card and i thought if I reinstall it I might be able to enable it to move to the SD card. The problem then was that I couldn't dl Dropbox because, yes you guessed it, of insufficent storage space but this was after I'd uninstalled Instragram which I had dl. So bascially what I want to know...the upshot of all this is why could i dl Instragram which is nearly 3* as much MB as Dropbox but then couldn't dl Dropbox?

Oh. it's done it now. Maybe it just needed a bit of time to configure the uninstall of Instagram to recoginse it had enough space for Dropbox. A/w anyone who's read this ther's a good tip in there for making space...clear data from Internet.

Yes I do believe that sometimes it takes a while for the phone to calculate the free space. I had a similar issue before and the same thing happened.
