Checkrom 6 with siyah-v2.6.13 kernel to cm9

Hi i would like to try out the cm9 from nightly builds i am running checkrom 6 with siyah-v2.6.13 kernel,do i have to change kernels to do this?is there a guide to switch from one rom to the other? like to try this one before the checkrom 7 comes out.thanks if you can help.:o
 
It should be pretty simple changing to cm9. Just download the ROM to your phone, make a nandroid backup and backup your apps with titanium. Now boot into recovery mode and factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik and then flash the cm9 zip. When you reboot your phone it will probably freeze at the Samsung screen so hold power until it turns off and then boot back into recovery. You will notice that the recovery version has changed, so just flash the zip again and this time your phone should boot.
 
Cm9 loaded very easily and is looking quite nice,the kernel that comes with it is
3.0.26-cm-gbda7724
would i be able to use Voltage control on this one?
if not is there a kernel for cm9 that can or is it better to leave alone?

Hi shotgun84, ive put the siyah v3 kernel on with no problems and dropped voltage to 200mhz-800mhz,was wondering about the other settings and is there a min-max to what i can set them,quite liking the rom actually and everything seems to be running good and smooth,obviously waiting for checkrom v7 but this will do till then;)

As you have heavily u/c'd, I would be very careful on u/v'ing on such a limited range. Try u/v'ing by only 25mV at a time and DO NOT set your settings to Save on Boot-up until you are absolutely sure that they will not cause SOD, (Sleep Of Death). This can mean running your phone for half a day on each u/v.

Unfortunately, there is no one set of settings that will suit everyone's CPU, ROM, usages, etc: It really is a case of trial and error and will take patience and time as well as a lot of reading, both on here and xda forums.

One, "get out of jail card", that you can use in case of SOD is by following the Recovery Instructions in Menu immediately you install Voltage Control. It places a .zip file on your SD card that you can flash in case you need to remove the boot settings.
