hey has anyone tried the card reader from squareup.com? i got one today the phone sees that i pluged it in. but it will not read a dam thing

They probably have a customer service dept. You'll probably have better luck there. I do not use one. Hopefully someone with more experience chimes in soon. Do they need a particular version of Android?

Can you tell us what you're using on your Prevail? Stock? Rooted? CTMod? Halfassed rom? CM7? CM9?!? Might help the OP narrow down his problem.

You have a lot of restraint. I'd have used my card (or my wife's) once just to see if it really works. It wolud've cost me 3% or so but it would have pacified the part of myself that I refer to as The Inquisitor!

What service are you offering? Other than transaction fees, Square is free, just
signup online and few days later your reader shows up in the mail.

On another note, anybody using paypal's new deal yet?

The device is "free" but you pay a 3% fee on each transaction. It might be 2.7% exactly but you can figure that out. As for paypal's device. I saw the advert for it but haven't gotten it. Seems that they do not have it yet and are taking pre-orders. Probably just to gauge the demand and react accordingly.

I'd not be surprised at all if it is just a rebranded Squareup device. Just like Dell printers are rebranded Lexmarks.

Uncle Bud...I provide full services to my small business clients...They run their restaurants and I run their point-of-sale systems.

Since I cant be a chef, they don't know what a POS is. So I teach the servers and Managers how to use the new iPad POS and how to retain customers.....
