Anker battery for Htc Sensation

I Would suggest that your stock battery was a dud then. There's no way you should be getting 3x more juice out of an Anker battery which have been tested by members of xda forum as averaging 1730mAh capacity compared to the stock 1520mAh battery.

I had good life out of my stock HTC battery, 1 day with heavy use, 2 days with moderate use, 3 days with light use. I worked it out that Im getting roughly 15% extra performance now with the Anker, which is close to what you would expect from the extra mAh. phone doesnt get has hot to the touch now either.

Very good battery for the money.

I use the Anker batteries as a supplement for the HTC ones. I've got 3 which I rotate. I NEVER get through a whole day without a battery swap. I wish HTC would just admit their battery life is rubbish and ship with at least 1 spare. Once thing which would be cool is to be able to charge the battery without using the phone to do so. I hate having my phone plugged in. Also, I get a problem on battery swap, where occasionally the phone comes over all amnesiac and thinks it's 1970. Anyone have a fix?

I believe you can purchase a double pack of Anker batteries and charger together, but I agree with you that this is predominately HTC's fault.

I have no idea how some people are getting 76 hours on a stock battery with any use of their phones at all. My coworker and I left our cell phones sitting side by side for a three hour meeting. The phones were in standby cell mode, WiFi on and connected to our local network. Screens off, push notifications on.

When we got back, her iPhone 4 was at 96% battery. My Sensation was at 81%. This is pretty much typical, and it should be noted that my screen was OFF the entire time. When we checked, she was running more background apps than I was: she had the ESPN app pushing scores to her in the background and a couple of other apps I don't run. I'd received a couple of text messages and had that stupid LED flashing.

HTC should have sent the phone back to the engineering department with a note that says, "If you can't get a MINIMUM of 14 hours of battery out of this thing with all smartphone features turned on, then you'd better update your resume."

A smartphone that has to have data, WiFi, and the giant sexy screen turned off in order for the battery to last long enough for you to be able to use it as a phone isn't really much of a smartphone. I hate Apple, but they got a lot right with the iPhone, including the complete lack of a need for manual power management. You CAN shut off WiFi and 4G, but there's no real need. The phone does a better job of management than you can do.

My biggest problems with this phone have revolved around the crap battery life. I'd really like to know how people are getting their stock 1520mAh batteries to last 76 hours. Man, I just bought a Mugen battery. It'd last for a friggin MONTH!

My one doesn't seem to be any better than my stock battery I still get about 8 to 10 hours a day if am lucky

I got about another four hours out of the battery, which makes sense when you consider it's another 450mAh larger. It's enough to be noticeable, not enough to be a super selling point. Frankly, this battery should have come with the damn phone. HTC could probably have purchased them in bulk and added a whopping $6 to the price of the phone and at least made the battery tolerable.

At least the GPS still works with the Anker battery, unlike the Mugen.

My folks absolutely love their Samsung Galaxy SIIs. They got matching ones, and while Dad doesn't really do a lot on his (He mostly just wants a phone, not a portable computer.) Mom, on the other hand, never puts hers down. The battery life is pretty good on those (You can probably put an extended battery in there if you wanted more.) and they do everything the Sensation does.

If/When you switch, keep me posted on how you do it, would you? There's supposed to be a way you can back your entire phone, including apps and data, up to Google or some such and then port it directly to a new phone. I haven't a clue how to do it, but I'd better start researching it, because come June, this Sensation goes out the damn window.

It's all anecdotal of course, but I get a couple of days out of the Anker without really trying. Sure, it'd be less if I sat there battering it all day, but if I'm going to be using it heavily (eg, using CoPilot in the car), I'll plug it in. Of course, I'm not 14 and so I don't sit there staring glassily at a phone screen all day, I use the phone as a tool rather than a life support system.

I don't believe that there is an inherent problem with the Sensation; rather, any modern smartphone will make large demands of a battery. If it really is that much of a problem, you can always stick a spare battery in your pocket (unlike the iPhone). If you buy a twin-pack of Ankers and a charger (sold as a bundle on Amazon, other retailers are available) and can't get through the day with three batteries, I'd respectfully suggest that either the phone is broken or you need to consider some lifestyle changes.

Given that the battery on this phone drains with the screen set to 15% brightness while navigating and PLUGGED IN, I think you're being a little simplistic.

Given also that my phone is my primary ebook reader, web browser, and communications tool, your comments about my lifestyle are irrelevant. I use my phone the way that I choose to use my phone. I don't need three batteries, and I'd rather not be rebooting my phone all the time to replace them. I'd MUCH rather have a battery in my $500 smartphone that didn't cost extra and made it through a day the way I choose to use it. At the very least, I'd like to be able to turn the screen up high enough to be able to read the caller ID when I'm outside.

Given ALSO that the iPhone 4 generally lasts for 12-16 hours on a standard charge, the "ability" to carry extra Sensation batteries around in your pocket is also irrelevant. For the iPod, you can also buy an external USB charging pack for $40-- less than half the price of the Mugen battery required to get a single day's full use out of the Sensation. I maintain that you shouldn't have to do so, and if HTC wants to get market share in any significant numbers over the iPhone, they'd better unscrew this issue in a hurry. (I doubt it. My family has had several HTC phones and each one has been junk in some manner.)

Given FURTHER that a search for "HTC Sensation battery problems" returns 1,260,000 hits, we can safely say this isn't something that I alone am encountering.

I find it brilliant that so many people have a "default setting." For technical issues it's "do a factory reset." and for battery issues it's "YOU must be doing something wrong."

I've only done one thing wrong. I bought a Sensation. Fortunately, there are enough people experiencing precisely the same problems I am for me to be convinced that it has little to do with my desire to use my phone for the reasons I bought it, and a lot more to do with the fact that HTC makes execrable products.

Today I noticed my Anker battery is in fact worse then my stock battery.I unplugged it from the charger today about 8.30 am and I have just checked it and I now have about 15% left
 
No problems with my anker battery until this week when it started to hold 50% less battery life on a full charge. The only variable is that I am using the charger that came free with my twin pack of ankers. Usually I use the stock HTC charger. Has anyone else had this problem? On switching back to HTC it seems ok again. Are we better off sticking to stock HTC?

What you're leaving out though is, there's a reason for that. It's a very good first step as it rules out a lot of common causes. There's little point in spending hours helping troubleshoot a 'broken' phone that turns out to be an errant app.

It's not really "you're doing something wrong" so much as, you can't escape the fact that battery life and usage are interconnected. To wit, I have the same phone and mine's alright. Though to be fair, my usage is considerably lighter than yours so this may be an unfair comparison. Interestingly however, my Sensation and my OH's iPhone have similar usage and yet comparable battery life.

But, regardless. As I said before, I don't believe this is a "Sensation" problem or even a "HTC" problem. It's inherently a "smartphone" problem. Battery technology needs to catch up with the demands being made on them. Until it does, there are always going to be compromises in balancing required battery life. How do you improve it? Do you fit a bigger battery, reduce the performance of the device, or reduce runtime? Or, do you design a phone for the heaviest users, or for the average user?

Your phone is in pretty much constant use and it doesn't last the day (which I agree shouldn't be the case); but then, you're not an 'average' user. To make a phone like the Sensation with the battery life you require would mean a phone half an inch thick, but then like four people would buy it because unfortunately most people place a higher priority on nice pretty sleek lines. Hell, Apple know this better than anyone.

Well, if that's an acceptable solution, the clue there is 'USB' - there are plenty of USB charge packs that work with, well, any uUSB device. Power Monkey do a well regarded range, for instance.

As an aside, my Blackberry probably lasts a week on a single charge with low usage, but then of course you don't get that big glossy touchscreen and multiple apps updating themselves every five minutes.
 
 
has anyone found that when putting in a new Anker 1900 that the UI becomes slightly laggy in places or that the battery (?) uses more memory?
i've noticed that sometimes the Agenda/calendar can take a little while to load up.

none of these were an issue with the HTC stock battery... the Anker is fully charged.

Not noticed much difference to be honest. Sensation doesn't really have enough RAM either way in my opinion, either that or Sense 3.0 is just bloated.
 
Just charging my new Anker battery for the second time, after getting 36 hours straight from it with moderate use of wifi, music player, marketplace and GPS, along with phone calls. This is a massive improvement on where the stock battery would visibly dip to 80-90% after a few minutes on wifi, straight after a charge

Absolutely the best 11 quid I've spent out on this phone!

Why can't HTC provide 1900mah as standard instead of the weaker offering ?

i recently bought anker battery for my sensation xe. .but charging goes down very quickly. .i had charged and discharged the battery upto 10 times. .but it doesnt lasts for single day under normal use. .

can any1 help me out. .plzzzz..
