Eris OTA Update

HTCs done its part. I'm 100% sure VZW will release befor EOQ1. If nothing else, they'll simply put the leaked ROM on an official download site. But with every passing day, it's looking more like they will OTA a slightly something tweaked a little better than the leak.

Again, to me the buggy aspect of the 2.1 leak is secondary to the fact that it is just not the official update. I bought an official Eris, I'll wait for the official updates as they come along.

If the leak were perfect, no bugs reported, I'd be doing the same thing.

The bugs, as reported all over these forums, seem mostly rather benign as it is. A bit of a hassle here and there, but no true deal-breakers, although the crashing browser does sometimes seem that way to me as I read about it in several posts here and there.
 
That version of 2.1 is not the OFFICIAL. The OFFICIAL version comes with Skype mobile already installed said Verizon. This is For the Moto Droid HTC Droid Eris and the Moto Devour Read this on the Mobile Buzz app from the market.. So yes that means that yall who installed the crack that you wil get the update in more ways then one

Going out on a limb here. I don't think they will follow through either. Until that lawsuit is settled I think they will withhold the OTA. I personally believe that's why it was leaked.

LOL That lawsuit will not see a court room for many years.

Believe me the lawsuit has nothing to do with the update. :p

This is the deal that was announced a month ago. I didn't think it was all that compelling at the time. Here's a snippet of functionality (i added the red):

"The deal gives Verizon customers with smartphones and data plans the option of making unlimited calls to hundreds of millions of Skype users worldwide, beginning next month. It extends to BlackBerrys and Android smartphones that run on Verizon. Those calls would go over Verizon's network, not using cellphone plan minutes. Minutes would be deducted to use Skype to call regular phone numbers in the U.S., Verizon said.
Verizon's version of Skype mobile will not work on Wi-Fi, the companies said."

None of us know, but I feel as if the leak was more of a whimsical ploy by a tester than any sort of effort to garner an effect or cause something to come about as a result of its early exposure.

A sneaky geeky type of thing.

Right! It's not going to impact anything Android-related for a very long time, if ever.

I really think people are making way too much of the lawsuit ... it's just another moment in the endless game that all technology companies constantly play with one another, protecting the paper trails of their intellectual property and enriching the lawyers.
 
just looked at my phone and noticed i had a update notification, and it is for 2.1!! get ready folks!!!!

Oh, now was that really necessary? I had just gotten to my office, sat down, thought i would do a quick check on the final posts for this thread...the screen was positioned in just such a way that I could only see the top part of your post. I flew out of my chair to get my phone, (almost dropping it in the process)....awwww nothin'. Anyway clever, cruel, but clever. Damn.

If we don't have it by the end of the month, just think about all the threads and posts you will see on 4/1/2010 saying something similar.
