Help Email high data usage - urgent

HI

I have a Htc sensation running 4 email accounts. Previously i had them all set to push email amd was using about 10mb a day. I have now upgraded to ics and seem to be using 70mb a day just from enhanced email. Even if i Dont use the pone when i check the allowance more data has been used. The usage shows that 80% of the data is being used by background data through the email app.

Any ideas on how I can reduce my usage

Still set to push e-mail? Possibly you have received some heftier e-mails the last day or two?

Pretty much same amount and size of emails. As i mentioned even when I refresh my accounts, even if there are no new emails it is still using up my data allowance.

Another thing I have noticed is that 85% of the data allowance being used is used as background data in the email app.
