Help with rooting Galaxy S II, and ICS roms

Hi,
I really want to get pure ics on my galaxy s II. Currently i'm on 2.3.4 gingerbread, unrooted.

I have asked a few questions about how to root my phone, and found a pretty straight forward tutorial, that users on forums have said is great to follow:
jayceooi.com/2011/08/04/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s2-with-cf-root-video

Rooting the phone appears to be pretty straight forward using the above tutorial, but finding the correct rom is what im not so sure about.

Users have told me to use:
forum.xda developers.com/show....php?t=1075278 , to find a rom, specifically the ones just above ++++++ [Frankenstein Firmwares] +++++++

The only problem is, how do i know which one to use, i gather its going to be the 4.0.3 roms, but there are so many varients for different countries, which one is for me?

Does it matter which one i choose? Is there differences between them?

*I have previously posted this thread elsewhere, and members have told me to resubmit it here, as I may get more help. I couple of forumers have mentioned that I should use the xwlp4 ROM as it is the latest ICS ROM.

Thanks,

Don't worry about all the jargon. Most of the new ICS Roms will work for you no matter where you are etc. Always have a CWM back-up and a Titanium back up so you have a plan B to fall back on.

I had been using AndyX ROM which is up to 10.0 now. These have been working nicely for me up until recently when it started to stagnate. But for novices its a good starting point. I'd flash that first as a taster of ICS.

Others to recommend are Omega and Wanamlite (i think its called) but for now I'm on D4. Its pure ICS (no samsung apps included) its the best, but requires a small bit of extra work e.g. installing google apps.

In general, the procedure for installing ROMs is:
Create back-up (CWM & Titanium)
Wipe data/factory reset (CMW)
Wipe cache (CMW)
Wipe dalvic cache (CMW)
Wipe battery stats (CMW)
Install rom. (CMW)
Reboot and enjoy.

If it goes tits up, use CWM to restore your backup. Risk free.
