Huawei Ascend D Quad vs XL forum

Just a heads up, it looks like the only difference between these devices is the battery (and with it a slightly bigger body). Is that enough to warrant 2 forums?

Might be worth keeping an eye on that one.

Ok can confirm that the quad d XL is the quad d with a bigger battery. Besides cases for one not fitting the other, can anyone else think of any issues them being combined?

Rooting etc will be identical. Separate will lead to duplication of efforts plus 2 forums to search for errors

I just came over hear to make exactly the same suggestion, and found that this thread is already here. :)

I really see no advantage to having 2 separate forums here, and the downsides are clear. So merging them into a single "Huawei Ascend D Quad/XL" forum seems a no-brainer to me.

Done, but just to.. do it. Rob and I have some real discussion pending about this sort of thing. These are pains to do like I just did, and I'm likely to catch some flack for doing it.

Probably best to start with just one per device until proven more required (cdma etc). Anything with similar names could be "xxxx series" for example? Assume.its easier to rename a forum?

ive read up on it and appararently the quad is 1.2Ghz and the quad XL is 1.5Ghz,
this is according to GSM arena, so i dont know if this is credible or not???
Huawei Ascend D quad - Full phone specifications
Huawei Ascend D quad XL - Full phone specifications
can someone check these please :)

EDIT: http://www.technobuffalo.com/compan...d-aiming-to-be-the-worlds-fastest-smartphone/

if you open the press release and start readin from the third line down it says "Powered by the Huawei’s K3V2 quad-core 1.2GHz/1.5GHz processor" so im assuming the D will clocked slightly lower than the XL :D

Nah that's all old information. I originally thought that too.

Edit:

Here is the official Huawei video.

States 1800/2500 mAh battery and 1.5 ghz quad. Does not mention XL at all. Battery is only different feature

Does anyone yet know about when the phone will be released in the UK, or whether it will be available unlocked without contract? I'm giving serious thought to cancelling my overly-expensive O2 contract, buying a Huawei outright and converting to "pay monthly".
