Those specs that NKT posted really got me thinking. First of all as we all know phone testers usually don't get the final specs of a phone. Further more I believe in this case Verizon didn't want the initial tester to get the final specs and version of this phone.
I believe this because first they don't want the final specs to leak too early, this would allow competition and would cause too many people to wait for this phone to come out, so the test version they have been using was probably just good enough to run the O/S and give the testers a feel for what the phone will be like.
Second when naming a phone the incredible, Verizon obviously wanted the phone to be top of the line when it comes out. We all know Verizon has a long test period so what I believe is when the bulk of the tests were done they upped the specs to make sure it is one of the top phones out there. Updating Ram and the camera at the last minute wouldn't really change how the phone functions too much and therefore wouldn't require a whole new test period.
Keep in mind all my logic is fueled by NKT's comment but I believe the Incredible is going to be Verizon's flagship phone, they will probably name it the Droid Incredible. It will replace the Motorola Droid and the Motorola Droid will replace the Eris. I went to my Verizon store over the weekend and the Eris is not even on display anymore.
For those of you who are wondering how Google will feel about this, I feel they won't care too much. They might actually appreciate it because first the incredible is still an Android phone so Google wins. Second it would divert some volume away from the Nexus One which I continue to believe is more of an experiment by Google rather than a true attempt at being a number one phone seller, atleast at this moment. Google probably wouldn't be able to keep up with Nexus One sales(customer support) with Verizon huge customer base without a phone on Verizon which would siphon some customers. Obviously some people would still go for the Nexus One because they don't want the Sense UI and they want to get new Android updates first.
