***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

I know this is the Incredible thread but android spin is saying that there is a rumor that T mobile employees are being trained on the HTC Desire.

If this turns out to be true, I would think that Verizon will need/want to release the Incredible sooner rather than later or they will start loosing customers that are looking for top end devices.

Rumor: T-Mobile US training employees on HTC Desire? | AndroidSPIN | Your No.1 source for Android news.

I don't think people stay on Verizon for the phones, they stay on for the Coverage in most cases. If coverage was the same across the board for me, I would be on T-mobile/Sprint in a heartbeat. Unless the Desire makes me get reception at my house on T-Mobile, I need to stick with Verizon.

Flame Away!

Everyone who is basically just chatting and not contributing any useful information... create their own forum for that. That would include "dream phone" specs and stores of people who go out of their way to get info from VWZ employees who know nothing...and then put up a post here that reads about the same as the last one like it that was posted.

7 pages of chat in a couple days and and about 3 useful messages relating to the Incredible.

Wow, what you just did asking for us to create a new thread just contradicted your post. You are doing exactly what you don’t want to be happening by putting up useless crap.

Well if you don’t like it how about you create your own new forum?

...said the man with 10 times more messages than I've posted, but did any of them provide useful information or just chat?

Disclaimer: You are about to read a post full of opinion and speculation. None of this is fact.

Those specs that NKT posted really got me thinking. First of all as we all know phone testers usually don't get the final specs of a phone. Further more I believe in this case Verizon didn't want the initial tester to get the final specs and version of this phone.

I believe this because first they don't want the final specs to leak too early, this would allow competition and would cause too many people to wait for this phone to come out, so the test version they have been using was probably just good enough to run the O/S and give the testers a feel for what the phone will be like.

Second when naming a phone the incredible, Verizon obviously wanted the phone to be top of the line when it comes out. We all know Verizon has a long test period so what I believe is when the bulk of the tests were done they upped the specs to make sure it is one of the top phones out there. Updating Ram and the camera at the last minute wouldn't really change how the phone functions too much and therefore wouldn't require a whole new test period.

Keep in mind all my logic is fueled by NKT's comment but I believe the Incredible is going to be Verizon's flagship phone, they will probably name it the Droid Incredible. It will replace the Motorola Droid and the Motorola Droid will replace the Eris. I went to my Verizon store over the weekend and the Eris is not even on display anymore.

For those of you who are wondering how Google will feel about this, I feel they won't care too much. They might actually appreciate it because first the incredible is still an Android phone so Google wins. Second it would divert some volume away from the Nexus One which I continue to believe is more of an experiment by Google rather than a true attempt at being a number one phone seller, atleast at this moment. Google probably wouldn't be able to keep up with Nexus One sales(customer support) with Verizon huge customer base without a phone on Verizon which would siphon some customers. Obviously some people would still go for the Nexus One because they don't want the Sense UI and they want to get new Android updates first.

Flame...sorry.

If all you want is confirmed news please check the main phandroid.com page and don't bother with this thread. For the rest of us this is the virtual watercooler to vent, biitch, complain, speculate, cry, cheer, high five, sleuth, postulate, theorize, exchange ideas, network, chat, etc... The sheer size of this thread speaks to its success and broad acceptance so i encourage all who don't feel comfortable here to look for a more appropriate place for their needs.

I don't think the camera is gonna be a last minute upgrade, I think people just probably don't realize what they have. Verizon may have just told the testers that they are getting a 5MP camera and they all believed it. If I had access to one of the test phones, I would love to take a picture and analyze the EXIF data.

Devdroidian, NKT, Sarab.Singh......I'm talking to you guys.:)

Well, I can say that it's 8mp with dual flash. That's all the info I have now. The camera also functions much faster than the Moto.

Oh yeah, I brainfarted that you were one who said it was 8MP.....camera speed is nice to hear though.

Nice point!

Good news, thanks NKT. Can you make any other general observations about the build quality (assuming it's better than testing unit since it doesn't have the red back), what kind of impression it leaves ("iPhoney"? Desire-like?), etc...

NKT, have you held the phone or do you know spec wise the dimensions and weight of it? I have been looking at the recent HTC phones (N1, Desire, Legend, etc) and most are in the 4.5-4.8 ounce range, I am hoping this will fall into that category too. Especially with the "thin design, premium construction" spec you posted yesterday. Thanks in advance!

I read once online that CDMA phones are heavier due to the technology inside (bigger chips or something along those lines). And it seems like typically ATT phones are lighter. Can anyone or does anyone agree/disagree with that? Does that even make sense? I am not tech savvy enough to know. Thanks.

-1, lame.

Well if true then Verizon better have something pretty INCREDIBLE because T-Mobile will have Nexus One, HTC HD2, and the Desire. Maybe the incredible is a combo of all 3.

HD2 doesn't really count because its winmo and it may not be upgradable to winmo 7 which means that phone could be end of life as soon as Tmobile launches it.
I also don't see Tmobile US getting the Desire as of yet. I think its one of those things where Tmobile UK is getting the Desire and everyone assumes Tmobile US is getting it. Except the two companies don't always carry the same phones.
The Nexus One was pure cattle call for subscribers from Tmobile. Thats why Google sells it. It doesn't seem to have worked for them. I don't see the HD2 bringing people in by droves either. They're going to have to figure out that it doesn't matter what phones you have if no one can use them.
The Incredible will be akin to the N1 with Sense.

Let me preface this by saying I am pulling this out of my a$$ (pure conjecture) but since the two Droids were released on Fridays in the past, could we be looking at the right numerical day but the wrong month? APRIL 23rd is a Friday. This would fit with a later April launch that NKT postulated.

My thought (read: hope) is that the HTC Incredible will be released on the same day as the Moto Devour just like the Moto DROID and the HTC DROID Eris were. Afterall, wasn't the DROID Eris announced like 2 days before it was launched wheras the Moto DROID was more like 2 weeks? Of course, I'm just pulling this out of my @$$ as well and it's all just wishful thinking.

I for one, am all for verbal defecation !!

Once I get some good hands on time I'll post my impressions.

NKT, are you a VZW tester or a tester for another company or anything? Is that your profession? NOT trying to dis-credit your information or knock you or anything like that. I am just curious.

Yes its wishful thinking they would announce the lesser of the two phones but not the greater which would be the exact opposite of the Droid/Eris launch.
