Help verizon galaxy nexus music when screen is off issues

it's a 4.0.2 problem - the Google Code website that is posted in this thread has hundreds of responses where people have had the same issue

dont have the issue...using both pocket cast to listen to a podcast...and pandora to listen to a comedy station, i notice no difference between screen on or off.

but i am rooted, running 4.0.4.

...that's because 4.0.4 fixed it. my understanding is that it was a caching issue, hence why it was the larger kbps songs that gave users problems.

Well, it would be great if we could get the freaking update already! It is supposed to be a nexus device that gets fast updates...

I found that if I enable the EQ option, the noise goes away when I have the screen locked. Guess that will have to do for now.
