Root [CDMA] Kernel wont flash

enjoikr3w

Lurker
I've searched and cant seem to find a fix for this. I'm trying to flash "AnthraX v2 [HTC SENSE 3.0 / HTC SENSE 3.5]". I do the usual things, back up, clear devkit catche, flash kernel "successfully", reboot phone. When I check the kernel in the settings, its still the stock HTC kernel. Anyone know whats going on?

My phone is hboot 1.4 rooted and s-off using stock rom. Android 2.3.3 base.

Use flashimagegui search for it on Google. it allows you to flash kernel and recovery images. if you're trying to flash a kernel thats not included in the rom itself then you could have problems.if there is a kernel packed with the rom you open the app and when it says to select kernel file select the rom and it will extract the kernel and flash. Also remember to flash the rom immediately after flashing the kernel. It will have an option to reboot to recovery after flash kernel. Search for flashimagegui apk on Google

Thank you so much for your help! Unfortunately flashing this kernel sent me to a boot loop... Good thing I backed up. Now time to figure this out.

Which kernel did you use? AnthraX is an ever changing beast of a kernel. If you could give me the file name, I would appreciate it and might be able to explain why it didn't work.

Wow just what I was looking for! Will flash this and report back with my results. Thanks a million.

Edit, same thing boot loop :(
I'm just going to go back to stock and wait for CM9. This stuff boggles my mind.

You may need to do a full wipe and or superwipe, then try again

I too thought he was on base 2.17 I guess I missed that also

Oh, I just re read your OP, I know why you bootloop. You need the new firmware and flash a 2.3.4 ROM.

Grab the Freeza AIO zip from this thread: [ROM] STOCK 2.17.651.5 Update.zip + Radio/Firmware bits - xda-developers

Then you can flash MeanROM or any of the 2.17.651.5 ROMs and then you can flash that kernel. The stock ROM 2.17.651.5 ROM is in my guide under step 2

I have done the freeza update before however it never changed my build number. It says it successfully updated in the bootloader but nothing is changed in the settings.

Edit, I'm assuming I need to install this as well "Shooter_2.17.651.5_odexed_rooted-signed.zip" from the xda link. Unfortunately the download link is a dead end.

The firmware doesn't change the buid number, it will change the radio (AKA baseband) number.

And you are correct, you need that ROM as a base. Or you can use any 2.17.651.5 ROM (MeanROM, ZR3D, etc). But if you just want the stock 2.17.651.5 ROM, I have a mirror here: http://dev-host.org/cs4

That was it, fixed my problem right up. I just installed the updated stock rom and the flashing process went without a hitch. Ponury's mod works just fine now.
