Root Unrooting - Return to original state

Hi Guys,

I am wanting to return my phone back to factory settings as im gonna punt it as my new one x is arriving on wednesday.

I have read a bit about this and i gather all i need to do is run the RUU via windows.

Is it as easy as that or is there anything else i need to do?

The phone is currently running tepics gingerbread rom and

Baseband version :- 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23
Kernel Version :-2.6.35.10-g3f43272[v06]-snq
Build number :- 3.14.405.1 CL96875 release-keys
Software number :- 3.14.405.1
Browser version :- webkit/533.1

The phone still has s'on I didnt venture that far into the rooting world just wanted the extra space.

I downloaded this ROM way back when I first rooted OTA_Bravo_Froyo_TMO_UK_2.12.110.2-1.21.110.4_release3uop1mw9unpc376h.zip.

However i note from shipped roms there are some other ones would it be this one i use RUU_Bravo_Froyo_TMO_UK_2.12.110.4_R_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157560_signed.zip

As always any help gratefully appreciated.
 
The first one is an OTA, i.e. an update rather than a full ROM. You don't want that.

If the phone was T-Mobile then the second should be fine.

Thanks for the quick reply Hadron, yeah it was on t-mobile when i got it so would like to restore it back to t-mobile.

So once i have deleted all my stuff off the handset do I just connect the phone and run the RUU via my laptop and its as easy as that ?
 
It's as easy as that. IIRC you put the phone in fastboot mode to run it (boot while pressing the back button).

What's more, the RUU will wipe the phone, so all you need to do is remove you SD card and the phone is completely clean.

If you were S-Off there's be one more thing to do first, but as you are not then that really is the lot.

To sell it, if its going to a human rather than a recycling place, I would go for the GSM 2.3 upgrade RUU from shipped ROMS:

Shipped ROMs

Simply because I think it would be more sellable.

Thanks for the tip SU but im just going to go through a recycling place as its a lot less hassle.

Think I will give this a bash on wednesday or thursday once my new handset arrives.

Well my new one x arrived today and im well impressed its rapid.

I ran the RUU and my old faithful desire is now back to how it first started ready for the recyclers.
