I'm gonna try to kick this back on topic..

So the fellas at AndroidandMe have re-updated their story that they got from us regarding the Incredible, and have now included a screenshot of the supposed "6 GB ROM"

The screen shot looks a little fishy. Wouldn't a test model have some kind of watermark on the screen? I would assume that is the reason NKT blurred out his photos. So my guess is that the screenshot is BS.

Yeah, the amount of misinformation on that web page gives it a pretty fishy odor. I doubt that Google will ever sell a phone that has a manufacturers propietary OS layer on it.

Would it be possible to include an OS layer "switch" in the phone, so users can choose between Sense and stock? Personally, I don't think thats possible but I am not that tech-savy to say for sure. I guess another way to look at it though, is that the N1 is technically competing with the Incredible. It would make sense to include something like that to give the N1 an edge.

Also, do you think there will be anything noticeably difference between the GSM n1 and the CDMA n1 to separate the two?

I dont think so. I do remember playing with the Droid and using a ported N1 launcher and I could choose whether to use the N1 launcher or standard. But I don't see how you could do this for the whole OS unless you dual boot the internal storage, or you gave the user a disk to install the other choice via a PC (**** apple!).

I believe you can turn sense off, essentially turning it off and making it run stock, but Google seems to be against the idea of a Manufacturer's OS layer, and wanted the N1 to be a "Pure" version of Android, and the snapdragon chip that has the CDMA components also has GSM components, so if a Sim Card is included, it could be used as a World Phone.

Well on HTC phones with sense you can disable it and just run stock android. People have been doing it on the Eris forums to try and get a snappier phone.

Thanks. Do the smartphones save any other type of "information" they use to run (work) to the cards or is it just "stuff" you save to the card? I wasn't sure if some files the smartphone used to operate were saved to the card. Thanks again!

For the most part, it's just used for media. Music, videos, pictures, documents, etc. On my BlackBerry, I can use mp3s from the card for ringtones but when the card is removed the phone reverts back to a default tone that it stored in the internal memory.

The class of the card refers to its read/write speed. Since you can't store apps on the card, it's not really going to affect the overall operation of the phone. When listening to music or viewing photos from the card you might see a difference but assuming that the music bitrate is lower than the read speed of the card, the card speed wouldn't be the bottleneck. The place where you're going to see the difference is when you're loading gigs of music on to the card all at once.

Exactly :). Also worth mentioning most of the people concerned about the class of the SD card are using custom roms with App2SD. So it matters when you run the apps from the SD card. But it's not going to have to much affect on stock devices except for the things Scooter mentioned above :)

I have a theory on this. Perhaps this person got information on the HTC Supersonic. The guy tweeted that he's not sure if the info is real or not (meaning he didn't produce the info, just "found" it). Since we know that it's coming, it's possible the person who gave the screenshot to the guy was mistaken. I'm still trying to confirm. But an actual picture (non-screenshot) of the memory would go a long way towards solving that...

If this post is true then this is proof (IMO) that Google is great at giving away free stuff but horrible when it comes to selling it.

They are either really stupid, arrogant or both.

Why? It's their phone. They can sell it however they please. From everything that we've learned in the last 24 hours, it's becoming clear that the N1 and the Incredible are very similar devices. One marketed, sold, and supported by VZW and the other directly by Google.

Well, this might influence a few to go with the Incredible... I for one am disappointed, but I guess deep down I knew this would happen.

Nexus One confirmed to only be sold online, not in Verizon stores | Android Central

Thanks for that. At least now I know where I'll be buying my Nexus if I do buy it. On another note ... Sense UI? That's really freaking weird. I guess they might be trying to draw Apple out even more. Personally I hope they crush all those ridiculous patents anyway. Go Google. Go Android.

To me this makes the decision easy, Incredible it is. This means most likely, no NE2, no in store support, possibly no family plan addition. I just can't go days without having my cell phone if I have to mail it to Google to get a new one if mine has a problem. I need to be able to take it to Verizon store, have them fix it or give me a new one that day.

It will probably also be more expensive than the Incredible if they go by current pricing they use with TMO. The $179 is only for new customers. It is $279 for existing customers, and if you're on a 1 year plan, you have to be 11 months in; a 2 year plan, you have to be 22 months in to qualify for that price. Otherwise, you're paying full retail.

I'd say the Incredible is going to be around $199 with 2 year contract?

I also thought Verizon learned that $200 was a magic barrier that they shouldn't cross, but they just released the Casio Brigade at $249, so I'm not so confident it will be less than $200 anymore.

I never said they couldn't I just said they were stupid and arrogant. Stupid because the model failed with T-Mobile without competition from other smart devices and it's going to fail with VZW because of the Incredible. Sounds stupid to me.

If they just aren't changing the model because they think they have the power/influence to change how people buy mobile devices (touch, feel, see) then they are arrogant.

Unless they honor the NE2 then I won't even think of the N1 because a) I am not giving up a c-note towards a phone and b) I am DEFINITELY not giving up a c-note if I cannot at least touch and play with the device ahead of time.

The Brigade is a niche phone though and the higher cost is most likely due to higher manufacturing costs. I mean you could put the Brigade in the back pocket of your skin tight jeans, fall on you ass from 20 feet up, and the Brigade will just laugh at your feeble attempts to destroy it.
I'm seeing the Incredible at $229 on a 1 year contract.

I'm with you I can not be without a phone. I don't have a home phone line. I need to be able to get a replacement phone that day, if there is a problem.

Prohibiting the use of a ne2 upgrade on the N1 is going to kill me. I just cant put up that kind of money for a phone. Makes me lean towards the Incredible too. However, Im still holding out that you will be able to use it. Why on earth would a VZW customer want to buy the N1 (more expensive, no in-store purchase, no pretty sense ui, and no NE2 use) over the Incredible? Hell, even Incredible advertising will be stronger than N1 advertising - most consumers might not even know about the N1.
