2.1 Battery life went down the crapper.

I thought the OP was saying that the Battery Widget was draining his battery and I am using it and do not see it being used at all... Should Spare Parts show it??

Sorry if I am misunderstanding the OP... New on this forum, but trying...

If you check usage statistics and sort by application name, you will see battery widget.

P.S. No apologies necessary, I'm fairly new too.

On my phone the "Battery Widget" app was keeping my phone awake. After uninstalling it, my phone was able to sleep again. I also ran the rest of my apps to make sure it was the problem, and it seems to be.

My battery was at 22% after 15 hours normal daily usage. I'm not one of those who gets super performance or anything...I think that this is pretty average for many users. Anyway, I have the same battery widget running as OP so I checked my awake time. My Up time is at 125 hours and my awake time is at 57 hours. That's not a great ratio...gonna try to change to HTC widget and see if that increases my battery life even more.

I installed the HTC widget and let my phone sleep for a while. Have the lowest awake time I've ever noticed so far. Thnx again, and thanks andrewzpsu for your OP.

Oh...I should add that I think that the battery info under settings is GREATLY improved and more user friendly under 2.1. Glad they now put battery usage stats in plain English.

Okay...changed to HTC Battery Widget and the old Battery Widget process no longer runs but my up time is even higher at 48%. The other services that continually run are Calendar, Messages, and Swype.

I noticed that Bluetooth uses 26% of my battery when on! Yikes...I have to remember to toggle that off!

I had/have an issue with my calendar keeping my phone awake. I thought it was fixed again yesterday but according to spare parts the calendar kept my phone awake all night while it was on the charger? but its sleeping again while unplugged. I went in to manage applications>found calendar>and hit clear data. once it re-synced the problem almost went away, I had some goofy calendars in there that were imported and pretty much forgot about until I got the phone so I got rid of those, I'm wondering if some data wasn't corrupted making the phone hang when it tried to sync? Still confused.= I need to go through and see if I accidentally changed a setting to keep the phone awake while plugged in. I was going to wipe and re-install but if it stays in its current state I'll deal until we get the OTA. As long as the phone gets to sleep my battery life is improved a ton with 2.1. Where I could barely limp through the day before I can easily make it now.

So new/continuing problem going on. I installed the HTC battery widget and that worked well. Did not keep my phone awake any longer. But after unplugging it this morning my phone has only been awake. In battery usage the cell idle (where it is using the radio - not sleeping) is roughly 67% which is goofy.

Ended apps using task manager - no change.
I uninstalled iheart radio app - no change.
Uninstalled the HTC battery widget, no change.
Cleared my calendar - no change.
Turned off background data - no change.
Ended apps again - no change.
Ended HTC messaging app (was on exclusion because I use it) - no change.
Cycled through Blue Tooth, Wifi, GPS, Sync, and Display (on the HTC power widget) - no change.
Turned of Calendar in "Running Services" - no change.

Reboot... - Phone is finally sleeping...

It appears that whenever the phone charges over night that something glitches and it will not sleep anymore without a reboot.

Do you use your phone as an alarm clock? I unplugged mine from a full charge around 7pm last night. By the time I went to bed around 1:30 the battery never got below 98%. I didn't charge it over night while I slept, and didn't touch the phone, woke up to the alarm clock this morning, and haven't used the phone for anything else yet today and am already down to 75% in an hour and a half.

Interesting...as you can see from above, I only reboot about every couple of weeks or so. Maybe I should reboot more but the good thing is that my battery is not being zapped. From charge to dead battery I can get around 18 hours. I just remember my awake time being much lower under 1.5 but maybe I didn't pay attention much.

I do not use it as an alarm clock.

It did it again somewhere through the day.

It might be the maps/navigation thats putting it in awake mode and keeping it there. I couldn't get it to sleep by putting it in airplane mode or shutting down just about anything I could find.

I'm still trying to figure out the trigger for this though. Immediately this morning I checked to see if it was going to sleep and it was not so I rebooted and it is staying asleep.

I had the same problem with 2.1. My phone would never sleep and it was killing my battery life.

The only thing that fixed it was re installing 2.1 with the file caddyman posted.

Files look to be the same size, but not sure if there is anything different in it. Going to try it anyway.

well supposedly this file was "untouched". Compared to the other leaks that had to be patched in order to install correctly.

I don't know if the claims are actually true, but it did seem to fix the "awake" time bug.

I just reflashed to the unpatched version caddyman posted a link to. I wonder if something in the patch screwed up something that keeps the phone awake. My awake times were always very very high. I also had the Cell standby issue OTD mentioned in another thread. I would really like to bare down and find the culprit of the battery drain. I'm getting 8 to ten hours max, with the same usage as 1.5 (now that I can finally stop playing with it) where I could make it 12 ro 14 before.

Here is a list of third party apps I have:
Newsrob(syncs every 4 hours and only if I'm on Wifi)
My Verizon
Opera Mini 5 beta
barcode scanner
shop savvy
shazam
urbanspoon
usatoday
gesture search (I always find this in my running processes)
facebook for android (don't have to widget set)
flashlight
Flan Gallery
lock 2.0
ringdroid
OI file manager
