I'm a little skeptical that Verizon would make all those different errors on their website. I'd think that when they put that information into the system they are taken directly from hardcopy or at least other internal documents which wouldn't screw up things like the Chip model number. Verizon documents would never even have a reason to write down QSD8250 because it's a gsm model chip that they would never use.

Now, I'm not saying that it's confirmed that Verizon will be selling the N1 in stores, but I don't think that's a very good source to confirm that it definitely won't be sold in stores.
Completely agree with you here. Seems very fishy to me as well.

Edit: I also love how that site all of a sudden changed up the info once it hit the blogs and got completely ripped apart.

Blarrrrrgh, I had it straight in my head but typed it wrong. Forget the ROM thing... :o

It has 1gb of flash memory to be used as RAM/storage with 320mb reserved as RAM. So in theory that leaves 500 or so megs available for storage on the phone. I'm sure there's a way to increase the RAM allocation if needed.

The point is, there is not 8gb of storage onboard. Just the removable microSD and the 1gb of shared memory for RAM/storage.

I really am not trying to be critical or anything, just trying to clarify. The Nexus One phone has 512MB of flash/ROM and 512MB of RAM. They are two different storage mediums. You're saying with the Incredible that this is combined into one? I'm still not understanding because it's impossible to have 1GB of RAM shared because RAM clears when you power the phone off, so that would only leave the phone using flash memory as RAM, and honestly, that would be poor system design as flash writes nowhere near as fast as RAM. I have yet to get an Android phone so I really am not familiar with how this info is normally displayed.

NKT, are you still on here? If so, I was wondering if you knew which touch sensors were used on the Incredible. It is said that the multi-touch issues are due to hardware limitations on the Synaptics Clearpad 2000 capacitive touchscreen sensor used on most if not all HTC touchscreen devices. A newer Clearpad 3000 sensor does not have these limitations and allows for up to 10 point/finger recognition.

If your interested there is a great article here:

I believe (unless the technology is totally different with this phone), RAM and flash memory are two separate things. One is for storage (flash memory) and one is for running applications and what not when you are messing around on the phone opening various apps, playing games, etc... (RAM).

I'm not sure of the phone's internal storage space / flash memory (isn't the actual amount still being rumored as a few different things?), but this should have nothing to do with the RAM. According to the sites I saw, it is rumored to have 512mb RAM with about 320mb left free after Android / Sense use what they need, which is not for storage, but for running applications. Completely separate of that is the phones storage space / flash memory used for actually saving apps, documents, pictures, etc... Then there's the separate SD Card, which also serves as more storage, but currently can't store apps without a custom ROM I believe.

Did I get any of that wrong? Let me know if I did, but I thought that's how it all went.

Side Note: Have they given any official Android updates for storing apps to SD which will be functional on the Incredible and / or N1 as of now? I haven't kept up on that. Incredible we probably don't know yet, unless it has to do with just providing the update for 2.1, which I don't think they have right?

Edit: Kyler beat me to it on the RAM / ROM confusion. See his post as well. Similar to mine.

I'm pretty certain that there's been no updates as far as SD stored apps....that's why I'm thinking the 8GB internal storage gets even more believability(yeah believability), cause that would eliminate having to store apps on the sd card.

I like the Incredible more than the Desire now since they changed the all red back. Bring it on already Verizon! :O

Or they could have included an update on the Incredible that lets apps be stored on SD card and they are testing that too.

That's another thought. Maybe they figured out how to merge the SD memory and the Internal Memory.

I would think that if the Android OS is going to "save" applications to the SD card it would have to first acknowledge it as flash/ROM so making it show as one big lump of ROM would be the approach I would take.

They would still need to make sure they keep some boundaries because you can't have half of the app on the sd card, and half of the app stored internally, or you could get some problems when switching SD cards.

Im with you on wondering about the multi-touch issue, and i think when its shown at CTIA someone is going to ask about this and hopefully show a video of the fix! (fingers crossed)

And good thing God of war 3 comes out tuesday to get me through a LLLLLLOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG week before CTIA!

Hell yeah!!! Its gonna be aweeesome :)

I may not be like the rest of you....i could care less about what the specs are...i know its the best phone verizon has..i just want to know when!!!!

Anything is better than what Verizon has now...

they could come out with 2 big rocks that we would have to bang them against each other to communicate and I would still be excited.

Or a phone that does Smoke signals I don't care.. Just come out with something that would make people jealous.

Verizon has some quality phones right now, but the Incredible and N1 put them in the Great phone zone.

If I didn't want to have my OS super customizable, i think the Pre Plus would be a really good quality phone, and the DROID is a really good phone, it's just that these phones are hopefully gonna take Big Red to the next level.

sorry if this has already been asked and answered but i have a quick question...does anyone know about the optical trackpad? how does it work, can u click it, pros/cons of trackpad and trackball....thanks for the info

Edit:The trackpad should be clickable....think more of a mini trackpad on most computers, swipe direction of your finger determines where your selection goes. Really, it's no different than the way the trackball works except no moving parts.

Advantages: the lint and gunk in your pockets wouldn't build up on the trackball. Trackballs have a reputation for being troublesome with "gunking" up.

Disadvantages: I'm not sure if this is true, but I think it works through capacitive touch, so you may not be able to wear gloves and use it where the trackball could be used with gloves. (If I'm wrong, someone please correct me, but I think that's the case.)

if u cant click it then lets say u want to edit text and u get the cursor where u want it...how do u "click" to select that spot?
Well if you already have the cursor where you want it, what exactly are you trying to click? I would think, once the cursor is where you desire, you can just start typing or backspacing.

Edit: Or maybe you mean the highlighting feature on Sense? I believe pointer arrows will appear infront and behind the word and you can pull the arrows from there.

Woodraskam, are you sure the trackpad isn't clickable?
