Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

Okay, I have a new theory of why the browser crashes. I believe it has to do with touch input service. I've noticed a weird stalling when inputing text in the landscape or portrait modes. It will either clear the text or I end up watching the text show up slowly as I typed it.

Pintch zoom also has crashed the browser more than a few times.

So I have two different input issues that crash the browser that I suspect may be a bug.

I know your trying to help but do you even like the stock oem browser more than dolphin or have you tried dolphin? dolphin has so many + features ++ like downloading youtube video's and a lot more interesting stuff inside that browser and it's really basic and just faster and overall a lot better than the stock oem browser. caddyman and i use that one and doesn't seem like many others post up about using it?!?! I'd give it a try personally.

you can keep going and knock yourself out. more power to you. i just read everything under htc eris and all threads about 2.1 before upgrading. all 20 pages i read and the last 7-8 pages skimmed through but realized when upgraded to 2.1 what would work and what wouldn't. that's why i want to make a thread up of what i use and what i did and how it works for me with no problems. no force closes

I'm actually gonna try Dolphin, since it's working for you. The 2.1 stock doesn't work in a stable way so I'll give it a try.

Well I like xScope far better then Dolphin.... but that is why I got an Android device ...like alot of people I am sure....I wanted a choice of what I can use.....


just a side note ....sold the wifes Iphone 3G today..... 300.00 cool...gonna use it towards getting her a Nexus or Incredible whichever comes to VZW first.... she likes the Eris just doesnt like the size (compared to her Iphone)

Let me know how it works. Maybe it's because I have all the settings working right or tweaked or because I read almost everything there is about 2.1 update but honestly I have no problem with 2.1 leak version at all. half the problems I see others have I haven't even seen. It makes me thing it's what app's they have possible? I have a decent amount of app's and after a couple more days if I have no problems i'll post up my settings and app's in a thread if people want to follow them.

iphone is a lot more solid because it has been around for a lot longer. think about it how long the droid eris has been out and already how fast things are improving by the time nexus one or better phones that will blow that away the droid eris will probably be flawless but already it lacks in speed and other spec's compared to most the phones out now a days. only sucky thing but 2.1 runs great and if this is just the leaked and the real OTA update if it ever comes out has all the fixes to everyone elses problems then it should be pretty nice.

Like dolphin. Will be my default browser.
 
Is everyone able to view Youtube videos now, with their new page layout? Just woke up this morning, and found it wants Flash upgraded... isn't that what HTC Flash Player is for? No other sites seem to have trouble with Flash, just YT... all their links and embeds too. :(
 
xScope is working for me. I like that it seems to have imported my bookmarks.

The gesture thing in Dolphin is a pain.

The stock browser is my favorite but it keeps crashing.
 
hey, so while browsing through my jobs computers, i found the roms for the desire and htc incredible :-) now i couldnt download them, but just so you guys know it is being tested through verizon. for the desire rom, it had two, mr2 and mr3. not sure what differences were. the incredible had only one software. so, just know that it is being tested with verizon, and we do, in a way, have the software hidden, just not ready for release.

I am able to use the YouTube app since flashing to 2.1. And the stock browser still views YouTube videos fine as well.
 
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but about Facebook syncing and your contacts not showing up, there may be a solution. Go to the people app, press menu, view, and make sure the Facebook contacts are checked. I had the syncing problem when I first put 2.1 on my phone but later did a hard reset and noticed that it automatically corrected my problem after syncing with Google. Give it a try and see if it helps.

FYI, I'm using the paid version, which has a lot of other features built in like an app manager and file browser. I'm impressed with it and think it's with the two bucks. It still doesn't render some flash sites as well as the stock browser in 2.1, but I hate how there's no easy and quick way to keep the cache cleared on it other than setting it to 0.
 
Is anyone else getting an error when trying to send a picture message? Im trying to send one and it keeps telling me generic network failure....any suggestions?
 
Well, I did it. I've spent days reading about the leaked Eris update and just couldn't decide YES, NO, what? It's my husband's phone and he's REALLY picky about how it operates.

After paying excessive attention to the bugs and fixes in this forum and another forum, I took the plunge.

I think one thing was critical to the update...something some may or may not have done. After backing up contacts, calendar, pictures, videos, and apps, I did a factory reset so the Eris was at its beginning point. Then I installed the update according to MATLOCKS wonderful detailed instructions. (need to find him/her on here somewhere and thank him/her).

Everyone does something different with their Droids. They change settings inside the phone, use different apps...with that in mind, I figured the people having problems may not have factory reset their Eris before they installed the 2.1 update. I just think that's a key component to not having problems.

I reinstalled all of the apps my husband used (via the Sprite Backup program) and tested everything. It all seems to work perfectly.

NOW that I've jinxed myself by saying that, tomorrow I might post something different. But if I can install this update, ANYONE CAN DO IT.
