Ben...
Thanks for the tip. Went on to read a bit about Foxfi. Will certainly try it out when the LTEvo is unleashed.

That all depends on if FoxFi works on the new EVO. All the other apps require USB cable to tether without root. On some devices, FoxFi works wirelessly without root. Just have to wait and see.

I downloaded FoxFi onto my OG EVO and got the dreaded "HTC Hotspot Locked" message. I wonder if HTC will be including this on LTEVO as well. I will check on the HOX thread and put some feelers out. Maybe HOX guys/gals have had some luck with this.

Yea, like I've said, the FoxFi WiFi tether doesn't work on all devices, and apperently HTC is one of the ones it often does not. So we'll have to see what happens on the new EVO. However, have you tried to tether wirelessly via BlueTooth on FoxFi? Some say you can tether wirlessly with FoxFi on HTC devices via BT, but not WiFi. I cant try because neither of my laptops have BT.. in addition to to the fact I dont advocate these type of apps.

Yep, 2nd part of the message is "only can work via BT" like you, my laptop does not have built-in BT. I have not been that desperate in need of connection to justify the purchase of USB BT device. I can say "IF" It's during normal working hours. A call to Sprint will enable Hotspot in about 30sec. (Honestly) and they were great about pro rating the cost. I called to have it turned and used it over the weekend ($3.85) I would like to have something to fall back on for those after working hours times in a pinch. I agree with you though. I get paranoid(Big Brother :)) doing the "alternative way" and therefore do not advocate doing such "Shenanigans" :p The little red guy on the right side of my shoulder secretly hopes FoxFi plays nice w/ltevo

"What's funny is that HTC and AT&T have both been coy about the fact that this phone isn't using Tegra 3, probably because the term "quad-core" is considered a major marketing advantage this year. That's really unfortunate, because everything I've tested so far indicates that Snapdragon S4 is a superior processor for most users. The hardest-core gamers will probably prefer Tegra 3's advanced capabilities and exclusive titles, but S4 uses a more advanced architecture, sips power less aggressively, and offers a UI experience every bit as smooth as Nvidia's chip. I'd even suggest that it seems to run a bit cooler, which makes sense — it's built on a 28nm process, whereas Tegra 3 (in its current form) is a 40nm part." -The Verge

Woo woo woo

I have a transformer prime Android tablet with wifi do you think FoxiFi will work on my EVO via BT to Prime/ Can yo do Android to Android?

You're right about that! Sprint is very good about pro-rating the HotSpot. Whenever I leave town, I activate it.. when I get back I deactivate it. Always pro-rated and very reasonable fees.

Endgaget did a head to head comparison with the retail version of ATT One X. Thought I would post the link if anyone interested checking it out. I think most will be very pleased with battery results and held it's own against other global versions. (Note, One-S, and HOX) LTEVO is going to be very impressive device meh thinks :)

HTC One X for AT&T review -- Engadget

P.S. Since we were talking about earlier. The article mentions on ATT version of the One X . The Hotspot is "crippled". Calls up to see if you paid for that feature. Yikes! Doesn't mean Sprint will,.but hopefully not a HTC feature.

Anandtech claimed that their ATT One X was using a Sony display, and I am confused.

In April, Sony, along with Hitachi and Panasonic, transfered the last of mobile displays to Japan Displays, Inc. in an effort to combat the Koreans, from what little I know.

Sony also claims a non-PenTile rgbw display for one of its Xperia models.

I know that it's not important, but I am curious as to what display the LTEvo will be packing.

That sounds like an AT&T "feature." From what I could tell from the Engadget review, that happens even if you stick a different SIM in the phone. I don't think Sprint would cripple the hotspot like AT&T did since it won't have a SIM slot; it will likely operate like every Sprint phone with a hotspot (calls up if you use the official one, but you can still use work-arounds).

The Verge's updated review complained about another AT&T "feature," too. The AT&T One X has a hardcoded AT&T hotspot SSID that can't be removed, and thus the phone insisted on connecting to one every time it was in range (i.e., every Starbucks or FedEx store he passed). I doubt we'll have to worry about that, either. :) What the review didn't make clear was whether or not turning off wifi would prevent that from happening. I would think it would, but you never know with AT&T.

Did anyone notice from the Anantech Review that the HTC One X is sporting 5 Ghz Wifi-N?!

Is this huge for anyone else? I know my Evo, and then Evo 3D hasn't supported this (and neither does my state-of-the-art Transformer Prime tablet).

There are literally 15-20+ wireless G hotspots at my apartment in New York City. To say things are crowded in this airspace is a vast understatement. In contrast, there are 3 5Ghz hotspots around me, including myself.

lol

i hope BB does pre-orders cause im not a fan of waiting in line for tech

I waited in line for my Kindle Fire for 21 minutes :)

Remind me to stop by your place for some free WiFis lol

LOL I'll never forget waiting for more than an hour in line for the OG EVO. Plus all the systems being down didnt help matters.

You mean LTEVO will come with better WiFi's! Does it come with bigger G-B's? What do you mean I cannot walk into Phone-Mart and pick-up one up on launch day? My sister told me Walgreens will have them. I couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic :D

I went in to play with the one x today and I must say that first I am an evo fan so I'm sure there resides within me some form of bias to what I'm comfy with. that being said, I am thoroughly and honestly impressed with what I saw. I'm in no way a pro shooter, but I've never experienced a cam on a phone as good as the cam on the one x. I've always felt the OG cam was superior to 3vo, and EL TEvo far surpasses OG. I personally think the burst shot feature is gonna change the way I take pics. using it, I can't imagine not getting just the right shot. no more catching blinking eyes and random unwanted sudden movement. just take a bunch and get the right one. pics were as instant as I can define instant. I almost wasn't even sure if I was taking pics because it all just happens so fast. the hd video recording was crystal clear to me and watching some movie trailers was just quite simply like watching on an hd tv in a living room. the screen is all that it's being made out to be IMO. just amazing! the beats audio sounded phenomenal, although I listened with a pair of the beats solo headphones. not sure what a normal pair of headphones would sound like, but as someone who works in the music field, I was impressed(and I consider myself to have a very good ear when it comes to music and production). I feel as though most standard in your ear headphones would sound great as well. the os will take some time to get comfy with ie menu buttons and the 3 buttons as opposed to 4, but it wasn't too much work for a first time experience. swiping thru home screens and thru the app draw was very smooth. I experienced no lag. it seemed at least as fast as my 3vo which is rooted so take that how you will, but smoother than 3vo transitions. the volume of sound with headphones on was crazy loud at max volume, and to my delight the external speaker also was a huuuge improvement over 3vo at max volume, which to me fairs even better when factoring in the kickstand and bouncing acoustics. with EL TEvo having much of the same framework, I am feeling very much giddy about what's awaiting me come release day. the standouts from my experience were camera, screen and resolution, smoothness and audio, pretty much in that order. just sharing...release day can't come soon enough!

I really really hate though when phone companies get professional photographers to do things with their camera. This seems to be a growing trend; so what percentage of people buying this phone have even a basic understanding of REAL photography? Like 1% at most? All this tells me is that someone who gets paid to take good photos can take good photos with the phone....this same person could make the camera on a clam shell look 10x better than anything an average Joe like me could do. I want to see what this camera does in a dark bar at 1 in the morning, or what it does at the park around 2 in the afternoon with no cloud in the sky.

If they really wanted to impress me they would hand out about 5 units to regular people, make them sign a contract and have them post their every day pictures. Sorry rant over.
