Verified by using the multitouch app in the market.

Also, my source is no longer available at this time.

If yall want to get a hold of me yall know my twitter and my email/gtalk.
thats the best ya to get a hold of me.

Do you know if there are any software updates that were made available that we haven't seen yet? I would guess that Verizon will promote their exclusive Skype rights over CTIA, was there anything like this?

I am not tech savvy at all. I've seen this word used a lot and have no idea about it. What it is.....rooting????

Root is a linux term to represent the Administrator user for an operating system.

So to "Root" a device usually means to gain complete control over the device or OS. Basically Administrator rights.

I know there have been OTA updates already but what are you meaning by software updates?

this thread gets better everytime i come back! thanks Stericson and NKT for providing loads of information and confirmation!

I was never aware that android phones did multi task.. That's awesome..

Guess that depends on what you refer to when you say "multitasking".

As an Android developer I can have my app do a few things at one time by just creating new process threads and running or doing things in those threads.

I'm a software developer myself, what were you doing prior to the Android Platform?

I really just toyed around with a few things. This is the first actual software developing I have ever done. I would say for me Android has been Ground zero for me.

I am still learning. Lots to learn. Lots of books to read. Lots of mistakes to make and lots of things to never do again. :)

Trial and Error.

On the Plam pre plus you can have 50 apps open at once..

If your playing a game you can pause it.. get out of it and then go back to it later..

Android won't let you do that much, that seems like a major battery eater...

To the second line of your post that you ninja edited on me, Android CAN do that however. Androids limit is about 6 apps open at once. (Estimated)

So this is your first career job? Did you have any other Java experience, or did you just pick it up with basic programming knowledge (if so what would you say was your bread and butter language, mine was C/C++/C#)? There's nothing like true experience to make you a better developer, that's for sure.

so Android and palm pre plus have the same multitask capabilities?

this is what palm pre can do..

Multitasking and notifications
If there's one area where the Palm Pre holds the edge over the current iPhone, G1, and other smartphones, it's in its multitasking and notification capabilities. The much-talked-about Deck of Card feature works well, letting you keep multiple applications open and running in the background while working in another. Like on a computer, you can minimize and maximize tasks by using the center button and swiping through the various cards. In addition, the aforementioned quick-launch bar makes menu access and launching new apps a snap.

Android CAN multitask. That is one of its selling points.

They both have multitasking abilities, but the chances that you need 50 apps running at one time is slim....don't get me wrong it's nice to have, but probably not used very often. Android will handle all the multitasking you need.

Nope,no prior programming experience. I jumped on Android from the beginning and started learning from scratch, barely knowing what root was. I've had tons of help from people, including the best mentor ever, JesusFreke, who taught me a lot of what I know.

I am a google freak so lots of research and time on the computer developed me into what I am today.

I have never touched any true programming language until recently.
I first started playing with the Android source and made a custom lockscreen for Android, which many people still use though I havent touched it for quite some time, after that I decided I wanted to start making apps so I started with the hello world app, which turned into a hello Riku app, and then I moved on from there.

I dont really do this as a career yet, I have two companies who I am working with now to make Android apps for them and hopefully more in the future. :)

For my true career I work for Clearwire and am Inspiring to become part of their internal programming team.
