So this is your first career job? Did you have any other Java experience, or did you just pick it up with basic programming knowledge (if so what would you say was your bread and butter language, mine was C/C++/C#)? There's nothing like true experience to make you a better developer, that's for sure.

Hey guys I'm looking to get into a bit of Android development too. I've had some very basic programming class in C++ and VB. I'm back in school and learning Java all this year. I just preordered this book off Amazon and I'm ready to get cracking ... all I need is my Incredible and it's on!

Any tips for me?! :D

Nope,no prior programming experience. I jumped on Android from the beginning and started learning from scratch, barely knowing what root was. I've had tons of help from people, including the best mentor ever, JesusFreke, who taught me a lot of what I know.

I am a google freak so lots of research and time on the computer developed me into what I am today.

I have never touched any true programming language until recently.
I first started playing with the Android source and made a custom lockscreen for Android, which many people still use though I havent touched it for quite some time, after that I decided I wanted to start making apps so I started with the hello world app, which turned into a hello Riku app, and then I moved on from there.

I dont really do this as a career yet, I have two companies who I am working with now to make Android apps for them and hopefully more in the future. :)

For my true career I work for Clearwire and am Inspiring to become part of their internal programming team.

Very cool. I admire your go get 'em attitude. I went to college for Computer Science but probably wouldn't know where to start if I didn't have it structured for at least the first couple courses. I commend you on being able to teach yourself programming. I hope you keep with it. It provides a great amount of freedom and is very rewarding.

DontEatPoop......LOL thanks for the advice on poop, haha love it! I vote to be best screenname here! lol

*stands up and gives NKT and Stericson a standing ovation* You have made a lot of people on here VERY happy! Thank you for EVERYTHING ;) I almost made the decision to go to AT&T just for the Desire. But now I can stay on verizon and get an incredible phone :)

Java is of course the right language, but C# is very close to java in operation. So C# is also a good path to take.

Thanks! I still plan on going to school for my Computer Science degree. I have my associates in Business and got stuck with 8000 tuition bill, so maybe when I knock that out I can resume my school :\

Between your Associates and your current programming knowledge, you'll have a lot of classes taken already, or be able to test out of the more basic programming language classes and shouldn't be too far away from a bachelors degree. One thing to keep in mind is CS has a lot of math, I know I was only 2 credits away from a math minor so I took one extra class and got it. So you need to be OK with math classes if you're gonna go CS.

I know all about that. This is my second time in college (attending online so I can work). I'll be done in about a year and 1/2 so :) I'm happy about that. Gonna have to go back for my masters though.

As a programmer I like challenges. So math is no biggie. I like the challenge :)

I like to solve problems.

this video was taken with the palm pre plus camera...

Is the incredibles Camera video qualities like that? or better?
I would think since the Incredible has a faster processor, and a much higher MP camera, the FPS coming from that would be better
