Received my GPS dongle

question what service is delivering the dongle ups, usps, or fedex just want to know who to look for have not recieved mines yet.

thanks link mines says shipped but i have not recieved it yet its been a week sense it shipped.

Sounds like a couple of us over on XDA- Asus site says the dongle shipped, but according to FedEx, the package still hasn't been picked up from them.

You can check whats going on by going to fedex.com and tracking by reference number, enter:

TF201DONGLE - "INSERT MY SERIAL NUMBER" - GRAY

Where the quotes and insert number is delete that and put in your serial #, no spaces between the dashes and it should pull your package up with the tracking #. Champagne users should be able to replace Gray with Champagne, although no users report those going out yet either. Ours say the label was created 4/18 but no activity since. Would be nice of Asus to actually ship them out, since FedEx simply says to contact the shipper. Contacting technical email on vip or Asus' customer service # is worthless nobody knows whats going on  Hopefully something happens by next week

I didn't have WiFi on. I guess that must be the reason. I thought it would be like most gps devices where you don't need wifi. I have a mobile broadband device I will try after leaving work today.

Was going to say the same thing. Maps needs a data connection. I haven't tried to see if there is a compatible offline app or not.

I got mine today. I drove around and my position was accurate and kept up to date. My prime rebooted with the dongle attached even when the screen is off. One problem solved, another one pops up.

Did you try getting directions? No offense to anyone but whats the point of GPS if its not being used for directions?

I'll admit, it's definitely a thread hijack, but is there a way to use a bluetooth method of using your GPS (and therefore a data connection) from your Android phone? I know this was a big thing for the Nook Color. Wondering if it's possible for the Prime.

Is this possible to do with the Nook Color? My girlfriend has one and would love to know how that could be done so she would stop jacking my mobile broadband device. Please post a link if you can. As far as the Prime goes, I'm not sure if that's possible.

I got mine today ( just in time for my camping trip ) and don't think it looks that bad. As mentioned here before it does need a pass through for the charger. I didn't use it long but it did work.

figured to ask, how long does it take between you putting a order in for it and it coming to your door step. i applied for mines this past weekend and it's still in the "your application has been submitted" XD also what app is everyone using that shows the gps uplinks more or less.

mine is currently at the "order being processed stage".

Was on the "order has been submitted" stage for between 3 and 8 days, cant be more accurate i'm afraid. Didn't check the order every day.

Thats as good as my Casio Commando, outdoors, and I consider it a very good gps receiver.

I was getting the same results after unlocking my boot loader and running primalicious .21 final ROM. No need for dongle at that point. I got a dongle regardless as well becuse why not. 1) it's free and 2) if i ever swap ROMs it may be necessary.

It depends. If you have a grey Prime, it doesn't take long. If you have a champagne Prime, they haven't started shipping yet and nobody knows how long it will be.

yes i have the grey, thanks for the heads up. i hoping mines get here around the end/beginging on the month. XD i did it last saturday

I received mine today. Good looking accessory. Actually it looks like the top part of the keyboard dock with out the keyboard. As far as the needing the GPS, it was never a deal breaker but I figured I'd give it a shot since it was free. I tried it indoors. It wouldnt lock on. Waited to try on my break and tried outside. Nothing. Turned my wifi from my Evo on, (tethering, which has worked in the past somewhat). I picked up a location in a min or so. I'm not sure if they expected this to work without WIFI or not. Either way it didnt live up to the hype without tethering.

Plus I now have some kind of red lines around the outside of my screen that keeps flashing. Its starting to piss me off because I didnt have them prior. I reset twice and now I'm tempted to hard reset. I mind as well...smh

Just speaking from my own experience. Beware...

Not necessarily. I put in my order on the 17th and I have a gray Prime and I am stuck in GPS dongle limbo. FedEx has the information and Asus says it's shipped but it's been that way for almost 2 weeks now.

Tried the device for a real journey rather then just testing. It worked, but with issues. While driving, I would lose the signal in some areas such as hills or big buildings. Which does happen with gps devices. Problem is that once it gets the signal again, I have to re enter my destination. I had my broadband device with me which I didn't want to leave on. So I would have to turn it back on, wait for it to boot, then go to the tablet and submit my detination again. Luckily I knew where I was going. But had I been depending on the gps for directions in a high traffic area, it would of really sucked. Like most others, it's not a deal breaker for me as if I really needed the gps I would use my phone.

I ordered mine on April 24, and it's still in the "you're application has submitted" stage.

Don't worry. Mine still states 'Application being processed' and I received it 2 days ago. :D Once I get some on the road testing i'll report back my results.
