I totally agree. I think if they release the EVO earlier than the typical June release, means Sprint has a lineup of devices coming this summer. It's a very exciting time for new upgrades.

Is anyone more familiar with the EVP program than me? I know very little, but I thought they were independent of Sprint?

Didn't we have problems with mis-informed EVP reps during the Evo 4G pre-release, emailing bad info to try to make sales?
Also the email said "Anticipated availability" the English makes me feel like there is still room for change. For all we know he could be talking about the pre-order date...?
Just because something is anticipated to happen does not mean that it will. Maybe I'm just being the glass half empty?

Maybe I'm remembering the Evo launch incorrectly? :confused:

Yep.

While googling the archives, I found a lot of people upset about their pre-order processing, specs and delivery from the EVP program.

And I found a few posts crediting some Brian as somehow at the center of Evo announcements, and that blog is coincidentally written by a Brian, too.

And I saw a lot of arguing about EVP maybe getting dates wrong, but I haven't found yet the posts that show an EVP rep promising the wrong month.

Good memory. I was a lurker back then. I only remembered the daily read of the prerelease thread being a howler. :)
 
I write both the EVP Blog & compose many of the emails sent to our clients. Therefore, the subject and context of each will likely be similar. In response to the comment regarding misinformed reps, we base our information on details the carrier communicates to us internally. We strive to provide our clients the most accurate information possible. The original HTC EVO 4G launched on a Friday, and some users were expecting delivery on Saturday. However, as some know, UPS does not typically deliver on the weekend. Hence the confusion. Pre-orders for the HTC EVO 4G LTE begin on Monday, 5/7/2012, however Sprint has not announced a ship date. When this information is obtained, we will certainly let our pre-order clients know.

So... is it safe to say then that a May release has been thrown back into doubt?

The email linked to at XDA clearly said May availability. Not preoder, but availability.

But your post here suggests that that's not known yet. Is this correct? :)
 
I suppose it's all in how you read it. The email sent to clients advises them that we "anticipate" availability in May - which is true. We're certainly keeping our fingers crossed and hope that they do ship sometime in May.

Pre-orders begin on Monday, but this is NOT the ship date. Sprint has not officially announced a ship date. When they do, we'll be one of the first to know.

From the sprint website. I'm assuming you'd have to pre order midnight on their website.
 
So preorders is only online? My Best Buy I thought said they would be doing it Monday but he wasn't quite sure yet. He said if Sprint was they should be. I hope so cause I save 50 bucks from getting from them.

Other stores will probably be doing it as well(I'm getting my pre order at best buy). I wad refering to calling in to sprint on the 7th to pre order.
 
Oh Ok cause I'm off tomorrow and planning on going to my best buy and pre ordering. I just called my Best Buy store to double check and they are doing pre orders.

Edit: (If I pre order from Sprint directly will I get it sooner? Like the Sprin warehouse is in my town Louisville Kentucky and I remember in the past when I had my Sanyo phones and ordered over the phone I remember getting it the next day or day after before. And I just called Sprint and he said the advantage from pre ordering from Sprint online is that you could get it sooner than anyone else but I don't know if that is true.

I will be pre-ordering from Sprint for that very possibility of being able to get it couple days early. Plus, just do it on Sprint site and Sprint charges you later. That is just me though.

You might want to check on the whole charging you later. They quit doing that.

I could be wrong, but I think your talking about billing your Sprint account! Your right they stop doing that! When you pre-order the phone for $50 on May 7th, they will bill you the remaining amount when they ship out the phone to you!:thumbup:
 
5/18/12 makes sense because T-mobile released their One S, AT&T released theres, or is going to this week, which means Sprint will be next in line. They have to stay competitive. I was originally told last month that May was the month of the new evo...
