Many many phones (LG optimus V) are having this issue, my GPS lock is accurate to 13,000 meters which is 12,995 more meters than it should be. Some people have suggested uninstalling Google maps and keeping the stock Google maps and turning off the automatic update feature and have claimed it helps. I've gone as far as taking off the stock rom (android 2.2 froyo) and installing ICS (Ice cream sandwich) on it, not because of the gps issue but because my phones out of warranty and i hated 2.2 anyway, but still no dice, the GPS lock is still just as bad. With that being said with my case and everyone else having this same issue, if Google maps is not the only program not locking GPS (navigator, and other GPS calibration aps in the market) its definitely not a software issue but a hardware issue. Its like trying multiple mice on a USB port, then uninstalling and reinstalling windows before realizing its a bad port. As much as it sucks, the optimus models are cheap inexpensive phones. If you can I would use your warranty if it's still available. This is a known issue for these phones.
