[Official] Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE Pre-release thread - Sprint official launch is Saturday, June 2

Just placed my order online through Sprint. I'm so excited and anxious!
But why am I so nervous?

Edit: Oh yeah, now I remember. The last time I ordered a phone from sprint it was a Samsung Moment. The phone, and Sprint, gave me so much hell that it's affecting me 2.5 years later. Great, now I'm chewing my nails

:> I am a little nervous too as my last online order was for the iPhone 4S and they sent me 2 of them. I sent it back the next day iPhone box unopened. Then it took me 3 months and 4-5 phone calls to finally get a credit for it.

Sprint doesn't add the payments to your bill anymore. Ugh .deal breaker for me as I did not want to pay $200 plus today.

I'm a free agent. Maybe another company will allow me to do this.

LTEvo will be for Sprint only! Other company aren't as lenient as Sprint, like Verizon has the Droid Incedible 4G LTE as a 1.2 dual core and other dated spec for $299! Sprint doesn't bill your acct anymore, but when you pre-order the phone for $50 and they bill your card later for online, if you go to the store you pay $50 then you pay the remaining when you pick up the phone!

Just placed my order, but it says it's backordered?

"Your order or a portion of your order is in backorder status. If you would like to select an alternate product or cancel your backordered item, please call 866-789-8292 between 8:00 a.m. EST to 11:00 p.m. EST Monday to Friday or 9:00 a.m. EST to 9:00 p.m. EST on Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that cancellation requests may not always process successfully due to the speed of warehouse processing. If you cancelled your backordered item but still received a shipment, please refuse the shipment or call us to process a return within 14 days of receipt."

Went to the Sprint store in Merriam Kansas after 10:00 am central and they said I was their first pre-order and he said my phone will be in next Friday, not sure if he meant this coming one or not??

i have had discussions with friends on "this" and "next"..

last friday = past
this friday = the one that is coming up.
next friday = the one after

next friday = May 18th

I think the Pre-orders will get theirs by the 18th.

Stores might have them around that time or a little later.

This phone is coming out in May there is no doubt.

SIII is lined up for end of June release and I have a feeling Sprint will push the SIII hard, much harder then the EVO. So Sprint needs this phone out ASAP and they need as many sold as possible until the end of June.

why?? what makes you think this??
EVO is the brand name for Sprint..

walked into a local bby here in LA and was the first to pre order. homegirl who took the pre order looked like miley cyrus...

anyway, did not have to pay anything for the pre order at bby. there is a new promo or some such going for this device only in that you do not have to put down any bread to secure a reserve spot.

"miley" looked on my account at sprint and was able to set me up as an upgrade (the other option would have been hardware only which would be full price). i received my printed receipt from "miley' and also received confirmation to my e-dress that is registered with sprint.

the phone is "estimated" to be in house by 18 may. we will see.

im in the same boat. upgrade is due 1 june.

i called a while ago to sprint account services. homegirl i spoke with will push my upgrade up to 18 may.

the rub? she cant submit it until 6am CDT on 18 may.

best sprint can do is two weeks earlier than your scheduled upgrade eligibility.

so i went to bby and preordered as an UPGRADE and had to pay no money down. i posted an image of the receipt in the pre release thread and it states 18 may as an estimated date.

What's everyone doing that has an upgrade eligibility date of 6/1? I just called Sprint customer service and was told that they weren't processing early upgrades until the morning of the 19th.

Thankfully i was able to buyout my 2years left on my current contract for $115 to upgrade in time to the EVO 3d totaling $330 but at the end of the day now my device will be LTE capable and a device that is more like the original EVO my first love for android lol :-) I LOVE my EVO 3d and I pre ordered the 3vo as well but now I'm moving on thankfully and plan to sell my 3vo back to Sprint as soon as my new LTE EVO 4g arrives I pre ordered my new EVO from Sprint at 9am on the dot this morning i can't wait until it arrives!! :-)

Well I went to the Shack to do my pre order. By the end I was wondering if I shouldn't have gone to Best Buy. Sheesh, I go in and said I wanted to pre-order the Evo LTE and rep says, "what is that?". So I had to explain it to him. Then it takes him 30 minutes to get the paperwork that I have to fill out. Then he starts asking me about my Sprint plan to which I say I'm buying the phone outright....well that gets the girl behind the counter staring at me like I have a third head. She then asks if I know how much it is. Uh yes. So then she makes some statement that I must have been "saving my pennies". Anyways after filing it out he then says, "are you going to pick it up Friday?". So I'm like, "you mean May 18th Friday?". To which he says, "I mean the day it comes out". Which was just plain confusing...if I didn't know the release day (which I shouldn't) I would think he was talking about this Friday. So then I mention I'll be in at 6 in the morning to pick it up and he gave me a bizarre look and said something about them opening during normal business hours. So I guess that means I'll be in at 8 to pick it up. All and all it was a very strange experience. Nothing on Radio Shack as I've had good experiences there before, but the reps at that store need a little training.

Not sure if it means anything or not but by order status has changed back to a backorder notice with no mention of a ship date. Earlier I had the same one everyone else was reporting

Your order or a portion of your order is in backorder status. If you cancelled your backordered item but still received a shipment, please refuse the shipment or call us to process a return within 14 days of receipt.

I hope that was not a mistake earlier

dont worry bro,

today is the first day of pre orders, so the system is bombarded with orders. so the online inventory fluctuates. this is what happened on the evo 3d release. if you want to see a nail biter type thread, smoke that forum over and read the pre release thread there...

wait until later this evening or early tomorrow to see if there are any FURTHER changes. freaking out now when the device is not even scheduled to be shipped until perhaps a week from friday is a bit pre-mature...

I believe the same thing happened with the Photon4g as well.

Frankly, since LTE has barely been launched on the Sprint network, I'm of the mindset that they should just ship the device and then sort out LTE provisioning issues via subsequent software update... but then again I just want the LTEvo in my grubby little mitts. ;)

Here's to irrationally hoping that this Mid-May release date is accurate.

That seems to be exactly what they're doing.

Updated article - with source document (wow, ok!) at s4gru.com -

EVO LTE Pre-Order under way with ship dates as soon as May 15th - Sprint 4G Rollout Updates

Actual impact to most anyone - about zero, as the LTE turn-on isn't official yet anyways. ;) :)

I reserved two at best Buy today. I didn't have to pay anything and was told that they'll probably be doing the appointment system thing on release day like they did for the Evo and that they'll be e-mailing and calling over the next ten days whenever they have more information on the release.
