Ronc01

Newbie
HTC Desire S
Android Version 2.3.3
HTS Sense 2.1
Build Number 1.32.161.2
Software Number 1.32.161.2

In an attempt to install some software (possibly Missing sync for Android) to facilitate syncing with my Imac - I may have prevented further system updates.
"we have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software. For your protection we cannot update your phone.
Please revert your phone to the official HTC system software....
."

Can anyone Please advise?
Cheers.

OTA = Over The Air, it's the term used for downloading and updating your phone via your WiFi/3G connection as opposed to doing it with the phone connected to your PC. Is that what you were trying to do?

S-ON is a security check placed on the phone which prevents you from loading alternative/custom versions of Android on that don't come from HTC. Nothing to worry about if you're not rooting (super admin access) or installing custom ROMs.

Did you buy the phone 2nd hand at all or was it direct from a network/shop etc?

1. Yes, Although I would if My Mac and Phone can 'talk', prefer to do it that way.

I still have the 'old' Market Icon on my android - I want to download new apps
via the Google play site, but keep getting

Do you have a link to the guide you followed for making your phone talk to your Mac?

Unfortunately, you can't update via Mac, if done with your phone connected to a PC, you need to do it via something called an RUU (Rom Upgrade Utility). You connect the phone, run the exe and that's it. As far as I'm aware, you can't run exe's on a Mac?

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Sorry but no, My guess is it was the 'missing sync for mac' app (now uninsstalled)
But I cannot remember exactly where I got i from.

Is there anyway I can reset, without losing my stuff,
Simply want to upgrade the System Software when required.
Cheers
