Root [CDMA] How do i know if my Evo is rooted?

I am new to all this and i want to make my phone the best it can be. i got it from a friend and on my unlock button it say "meanrom" and there is a superuser app. so what does all this mean? am i rooted or what? thanks for the help in advance

Sounds like you're rooted,however, you can verify this my downloading from a number of apps from the GOOGLE PLAY STORE that will verify whether or not you have root access.

Yes you are rooted and running a custom Rom -
You are free to back up your device - flash custom roms & Kernels -
Use apps that require root - Titanium Backup - set CPU - barnacle and Wifi Tether....etc.

YES, you are rooted. Before you fool around with your phone too much, turn it off, then hold Volume Down and the Power button. choose the recovery option, use volume up and down to higlight the option and press power to select. Use one of the rooting guides on here and start with the section that tells you how to BACK UP/NANDROID RECOVERY your system

EDIT: DonB has at least 1 guide on how to make a back up of your system and how to use that recovery in case you mess your handset up
