One more question....and again....possibly off topic. The Incredible is reportedly not a world phone in that it doesn't support GSM...BUT...since it will probably have Skype...couldn't a person go....for example....to a place in Europe where wifi is available and make a very inexpensive phone call? Wouldn't this make the Incredible a fairly versatile phone in that respect. Of course you wouldn't have coverage in the middle of the German countryside...but you could stop at a coffee shop that has wifi and call back home...yes? This would make the Incredible super awesome for me....and would be yet another great reason to take it along on vacation.

On a side note I'm surprised that the 5MP camera in my Eris takes such lousy pictures which makes me realize that an 8MP camera in the Incredible is going to be only slightly better. There won't be a phone for a long time that replaces a dedicated digital camera and i'm ok with that as long as the phone does other things well.

PS: I don't mind carrying around a spare battery(take a hint Apple!).

eris also doesn't have a flash, while the incredible will have a duel led flash.

Besides that I'm hoping for an app to be available to remote desktop into my home PCs as well.

What do you mean by this???

Thanks BTW. :)

He means that you can control his desktop PC from his phone through internet and just see his home computers desktop on his phones screen.

I've seen the iPhone do something like this so Android will probaly be able to do it if they can't already.

Remote desktop is a feature of Windows OSes since Windows XP. Basically it lets you remote control the desktop. It pretty much lets me see the screen of my desktop and perform actions on it as if i was sitting in front of it.

Yes, you could make very cheap calls to regular phone numbers, and if you called another person on skype, you could call for free.:)

Edit: I work for a company and we have a branch in France, and we use Skype to make free conference calls in between the two. Also, you can make 1-800 calls for free with Skype.

Remotely get on your computer via your phone. Like when an IT department/ISP/computer company remotely controls your comp to fix something. But you could do it anytime you wanted. Pretty freaking sweet.

Edit: looks like you already answered, BLD. You can also remote a mac. Don't know if there is an app for THAT, but i would love to control my mac via an android phone.

I also use Skype at work for conference calls and its great.

And with VZW having an agreement with Skype mobile, I'd assume our Incredible will already be preloaded with all the necessary goods needed to run it. (unfortunately, no front-facing camera, so it'd be only voice)

So I know this is going to sound far fetched. But I assure you I am just saying what some people are thinking. Wouldn't it be nice if you could watch your NetFlix on this phone? I mean the HD You Tube capability says its ready to happen. And the phone is built on Linux meaning the coding is out there in someones head. You can quote me. It will happen some day. Maybe not this phone. But some day.

Does anyone else think the Incredible will be released with multiple color options for its backplate? Or is it just me?
My question is, what would be the reasoning for VZW to release multi-colored backplates? The ONLY reason we thought that in the beginning was because of the red backplate. But now since it's black, there really isn't any point right? (Only talkng about VZW, as I'm sure there'll be aftermarket ones)

Definitely not far fetched. The HD2 has a blockbuster app on there for movies, so I don't see why upcoming phones couldn't have Netflix (I'd say it'd be better utilized on larger screens such as 4.3", so I wouldn't be too sure with the Incredible. But with phones like the Supersonic, I can see it happening)

Maybe they want to add some originality and something different to make it stand out. Also it could be a selling point to it? Like whats happening with the Dell Mini 5? IDK but it could happen :P I could go for a custom designed one for a college team :)

I would love this. I already use my 360 all the time for netfilx. Watching a movie on my phone or using a video out(HDMI someday) for a tv would be awesome.

Doesn't it take a lot of bandwidth to stream a movie? If so I think this would be of a carrier issue and data services rather than a phone issue.

Netflix will check your bandwidth and stream the according quality on xbox live. You could do the same or just keep it low quality for the phone.

Phone networks aren't ready to handle that kind of bandwidth yet, so I don't see them allowing to do it except over Wifi connections.

I don't think people that are looking for a spec-heavy phone are going to see multicolored backplates as a selling point:p ;)

Flash or no flash I don't think a 3MP bump will make the pictures that much better. Just for comparison purposes. I have 2 digicams: an old 3.2MP sony and a 10.1MP sony and both take better pictures than the 5MP Eris.

My point is, we are all hoping for a higher MP camera for example when in reality it won't really be that great of a camera since all the important, high-quality hardware guts that are in a dedicated digicam aren't in the phone and are instead controlled by pieces of software that can't hope in it's wildest dreams to replicate the quality of a digital camera. In case I confused anyone with that what I mean is, I'd rather my Incredible have a 5MP camera if another piece of hardware could use those R&D funds to be improved instead. Drop my Incredible's MP from 8 to 5 and give me a secondary mic for noise cancellation and say a better set of touch buttons than the 4 on the Eris. Is that too much to ask?

You'll have to forgive my ignorance on this. I know that a movie is a large file, and its size is determined by the video quality. But if a video is streamed to a phone, how much more bandwidth does it use compared to say NFL Superfan where you can watch all NFL games on the device?

Netflix surveys customers about an iPhone streaming app ? Cell Phones & Mobile Device Technology News & Updates | Geek.com

That was done on March 2nd. So maybe the Incredible could be given 720p video and a Netflix streaming to the phone over wi-fi would be insanely incredible :P
