no radio??
^ This is the deal. We have the hardware, but I think it is disabled somehow so that even adding some sort of FM radio software won't make it work. There is a FM radio chip on the circuit board but it seams to be disabled completely
I use tune-in radio app for all my local and long distance radio stations.. Works like a charm.. Haven't come across a station that's not on their list yet!

Yup, same here, works great
I am on a different phone (htc wildfire s for virgin mobile usa). It has the chip, but, disabled for some unknown reason. Once I rooted and installed a custom Rom, the radio worked. Maybe there is a similar solution for your phone too.

Static...? Could it be as simple as you need head phones (=antenna)? Or you already tried that? the radio on my phone doesn't work without headphones. I did a quick search since I'm not familiar with MT - so the EU and Asian phones are gsm, and US phones CDMA, just like my Wildfire S! So there is hope... ? I know you said you already have a phone with radio, but I'm just being curious since it seems so similar to the radio issue on my phone![]()
Understood that they wanted to use the internal FM but offering a more sensible answer... With FM you have to have an antenna as well as be in range of the station... With tune-in you only need your 3g or Wifi
