Coming SOON: May 31- HTC Evo V (4G)- ICS

I am wondering if I should change my grandfathered plan to just the 35 dollar plan before this phone comes out. If you go on virgins site login and select change plan you can select the $35 plan. My plan gets billed on the 28th and I don't want to pay $25 on the 28th and then 35 on the 31st. So I am wondering if it would be worth just forcing myself to the new plan before this phone is out so I don't have to go without a phone for a few days.

Might wanna call VM and ask if switching now will prevent you from being charged twice when you make the switch

So you're saying the web is fast even in areas that don't have 4G coverage?
 
Well...I guess I'll probably go with this phone. I was considering the Samsung Exhibit II with T-Mobile, but my local T-Mobile store doesn't offer the $30/month plan and my local Wal-Mart doesn't have any in stock, so that almost seems like a sign that I shouldn't get that one.

A lot of people here seem to be very excited about the Evo, and even if I can't get a 4G signal, the phone is still leagues better than my current Samsung Intercept.

The way I figure it, if I am not completely satisfied with it, I can always return it within the first 30 days and continue my search.

You know the 30$ plan is available only online right? Look on Craigslist for a 4g tmobile phone in your price range and go for it! Speed man.. Speed.. Skype is only 3$ a month for unlimited us and Canada.. And you get your own number..

I'm pretty sure Walmart is 30 days... And probably the first in stock of it will be Best Buy and Radio Shack which both have 30 day return policies IIRC.

It's available online and at Walmart ;).

Oops, didn't think of Best Buy and other brick and mortar stores. Walmart told me 14 days for a tmo prepaid phone, which I didn't buy.
 
I was planning to buy it directly from Virgin Mobile and they have a 30 day return policy. Would I be better off buying it in a store?

If you want it now get it from store. If there is a defect return to store or place purchased from. If past return date send to virgin mobile to receive one next day(make sure you have 5$ warranty or they might not take it.)

Im keeping the stock rom. I think it will run good enough for me. You guys just want the cm9 features. Plus don't try to get the hot spot active because they might shut u down real quick. And I want my hotspot the rite way. But its up to you guys.

This is kind of confusing. Why would they not work on Wimax when they have so much invested in the Clearwire company along with all of the current and future updates to so many towers? Not to mention their new Sierra Hotspot device coming out.

Is this speculation, rumor, or is there a press release we missed? If Sprint officially has no interest in making Wimax any better for their customers (in other words, not upgrading it while they're upgrading their towers), then I see no point in even thinking about upgrading to a 4G phone at this time. :(

I had heard that virgin mobile would eventually get use of there lte networks but right now there only for sprint
 
From what I have heard (sorry doohave time to link sources), Sprint is moving to LTE and leaving WiMax for VM & Boost. Since they are doing that, it doesn't make much sense for them to spend money improving WiMax.

That's a real bummer. :( I can't justify spending that kind of cash for the Evo if they're not going to improve the service it uses. :frown:
