Just received the e-mail below... I guess Best Buy jumped the gun on their announcement.

Yep, we're toast people. I just got the same email from BB stating that their earlier email was in error. BB has no anticipated release date. We are dead in the water. Now I'm thinking that the report I saw earlier from a stock analyst, who speculated on 4 weeks, is probably the most accurate.

Do people read the posts above them before they post?

Hey poindexter...yes, we do. We are doing what's called acknowledgement and confirmation. Backing up claims mentioned above. But thanks for the helpful and informative post there chief.

btw. im amazed no one said this yet. what I would REALLY love to see. is htc pull this stunt on the iphone 5. could you IMAGINE the fanboys shitting their pants! hahahaha

I'm not too much of a hater, but I would get a great chuckle out of seeing a bunch of iFan campers crying in front of their beloved store if this was to happen to them. One can only wish...

That being said, I'd like to think that the Android crew can take this type of news with a lot more dignity. C'mon...getting your congressman involved? Please. I mean, it's fun and all getting a new phone but if you're really getting that upset about this...it's time for a gut (and mirror) check.

I think I may be done with this rollercoaster ride...looks like May 31st is my new release date...the date of Virgin Mobile's prepaid Evo V 4G (Evo 3D with ICS) with 4G Wimax coverage. Who even knows when LTE is coming anyways. It is all speculation. Maybe I will take the Sprint hand-me-downs and save some money. BTW, I dislike my own post because I really want the EVO LTE but this is getting crazy now.

Have had the Evo's back since OG release, but in all reality, the GS3 is creeping its way back into my thoughts...removable battery too. Just sucks that the word on the street is that Samsung sucks with their updates. HTC is Johnny on the spot with them. Bum deal all the way around.

The SGS3 will release in the States something in June, and internationally at the end of May

Not necessarily it could be good news and the phones could be shipping out now for a Monday the 21st or Tues the 22nd release date.

The glass isn't always half empty.

EDIT: This post was in reply to the Best Buy updated e-mail just noticed it was merged into the main thread. I've added a quote above so it makes more sense (bad HTC joke :)).

Yep, this delay is gonna kill HTC. If the EVO is delayed even a couple more weeks, I think the "ship jumpers" (to GS3) could be in the millions...6 figures minimum.

Well you are a more positive person than I am because it is almost completely empty to me with this situation. Wish I could be positive like that.

You, my friend, are an optimistic soul. My guess...June at best. Legal/Patent issues don't get resolved overnight. Sure, lawyers are scrambling...but it takes time, paperwork, late nights, conference calls, etc, etc, etc. Weeks and months much more likely than hours and days.

More good news!
OK, really. If this is a matter of physically checking the phones, we seriously can't get a reliable timetable on this?
If it's a matter of the ITC agreeing that the fix does not violate the order, shouldn't that have been made clear by now. I have read every post in this thread the last couple of days and read the news reports, and I still have no clear understanding of what exactly customs thinks they need to do. I think we would all feel a lot better if we just had some real understanding of what is actually going on. I would love a hard date, but how can no one really know if this is a days, weeks, or months thing. All we have to go on is informed (mostly) speculation.

I doubt that! We geeks now about what's going on, because when I ask my friends about this LTEvo they have no idea what I'm talking about....Sprint was going to start heavy advertisement in store and to promote before this debacle happened!

Now i may be crazy but wouldnt it make more " sense " to confirm with customs or whomever that yes these devices are in compliance.. why didnt HTC just do that? Not just go " i hopeee they dont see usss" as they ship into the US

Same here... everyone thinks im nuts. lol.. its bad when your debating with the people in radioshack how " no im serious its not coming out on the 18th" they didnt even know when i first caught wind of it...

The phones are already in the US... I would think that they could come to some sort of compromise and even if they are found at fault (which yes I'm sure they will be) they'd agree on an immediate work around via a OTA software update. This shouldn't be that hard and would be a hell of alot less headache for both HTC and the ITC. There is no reason to hijack the hardware if it's a software issue.

Yeah, but they can't now...and in a few weeks, they're gonna start pimpin this other little diddy called the GS3. Sure, the EVO is a big seller for them and a flagship...but you can't deny the fact that they killed it with sales of the GS2 as well. You're average, non geek, customer is going to walk into the store in June and have a choice (that they wouldn't have had if the EVO released 5-18). The Samsung name is a strong one...and it's gonna be getting MAJOR hype from the other carriers too. That average customer is going to have heard and seen A LOT more GS3 commercials come June....way more than EVO. There's a reason HTC's stock has been taking it on the chin (try 7%) over the last 48 hrs.

Isnt the software diferent for the one x and ltevo in the us? no hyperlinks no problem lol

Edit* but yes fully agree if there was an issue there is no need to hold the hardware.. just issue an update and get it over with def agree

The infringement has to do with number and e-mail hyperlinks and the way the phones handle them similarly to Apple products (*cough no comment*). Software update could be out before those phones shipped to customers if the ITC agreed to release them tonight because all they would have to alter is a few lines of code, it wouldn't need a complete re-write or anything major.
