***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

Slug closed the other thread because users were complaining that it was getting impossible to read, because of all the off topic posts in it. We can't please everyone.

If you want one big thread with all the information in it, that's fine, but having 6 pages of posts with nothing to do with the incredible is of no use to anyone.

We don't want to stop the friendly banter and chat, we welcome it, but it needs to be done in the right place or big threads full of information become useless.
 
Sure it's just a another thread, but I missed seeing Anonimac's Opening post. He made sure that first post was updated frequently with any relevant information that thread had to offer.

On topic Post: The incredible sure sounds incredible.

I don't think the moto release will really be any indicator of when the Increddy launches. I believe the hold up on the release has been Motos fault and not Verizons.

Good Morning Everyone!!!! I wake up today and nearly dropped my coffee on my computer...CLOSED...But I think if most of us continue over here and click un-official instead of official, it might work out...its not rocket science...lets just continue with everything. So didn't devdroidian mention something around page 120 LOL (guess) about a st. paddy's day droid??? He posted a greed droid and made some type of insinuation about it...could it be a march 17th announcement? I doubt it, but it would be INCREDIBLE!!!!!
 
Kcoan3, are they gonna send out the Eris 2.0 update at the same time as the moto droid or has that already gone out?

If they send the eris update out along with the moto droid then maybe they will launch the Incredible around the same time to say all their android phones are up to date as possible!

I am here and I am awaiting the call from him. I might go up there at lunch to see what he says if I don't get a call from him before hand. I let everyone on here know what I find out.

Here's the problem with the Mod's rationale, when there's been no official news forthcoming for days on a device everyone in this forum knows exists it invites speculation and subjective interpretation of the information that does exist.

Thank God for the information and photos provided by both NKT and Stericson or the thread would have really devolved into "no man's land" much faster, as there would have been absolutely no new news on the phone since Sarab Singh was kind enough to grace thread with his presence for a single evening several weeks ago before disappearing back under the rock he crawled out from.

What are those to that have waited patiently and anxiously for this phone to arrive for months to do to pass time? We need an outlet to vent and and speculate and the original thread was perfect for that.

I'll tell you right now without any new information forthcoming on this phone the same thing is going to happen here. Those that manage the forum are trying to moderate human nature, which is a next to impossible task. If they really want to be helpful to the masses following this thread why don't they put their journalist hats on and pester the heck out of Verizon and HTC to get some information on this damn phone already!? That or spread the word to the journalists (if you can even call them that) at Phandroid.com to do their jobs and break news on this device instead of picking off morsels they find on other blogs, websites and message boards. I don't care if it's done through illicit means. Bribe someone if you have to at VZW and HTC and get a mole in there that will leak info to you on occasion. That's what good journalistic organizations do. ;-)

Bottom line: If you want to keep things on topic it's important to have a dose of fresh news on the phone at least once if not twice a week for the followers to discuss ad nauseam. Without the benefit of that you just open yourselves up to a bunch of clutter and noise, such as my post. :D
 
Oh stop crying everyone. I had my post censored once because the mod thought my tone was too "harsh". Can you believe it?? I have NEVER been censored for anything. I don't swear or otherwise use bad language on-line. Period. Harsh? Are you kidding me? This is as harsh as I've ever gotten. Any way, glad to see everyone back here.
 
On Google, this "Unofficial" thread comes up fiirst under blogs. Google ain't no fool!

You know what? I know that is probably conjecture, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. I have a Storm 1, and although the OS update was unofficially available for quite a while, the official Verizon version was finally released in conjunction with the Storm 2's release so that both phones would have the same OS. It kept from pissing off the Storm 1 owners, especially those that had just bought one on a BOGO. I am sure that rolling out the 2.1 in conjunction with the release of any new Android phone would serve to do the same for those jumping on Droid during this latest BOGO.
 
Damn, a lot happened since I went to sleep (as usual). No big deal, lets just keep up the Incredible talk (and whatever else comes up ;) ).

I would be amazed if we didnt hear anything before CTIA. There is always an employee with loose lips and with information regarding the Incredible, who wouldnt want to tell their friend about an amazing phone that virtually has no information available for it (save for this thread of course :D )
 
Tmobile and their big Press announcment regarding the HD2 is today, maybe Verizon's marketing people will wise up and release some Incredible info today...

But i'm not sure I like the idea of it being lighter than the eris, idk bigger and light just kind of sounds cheap but they have said all along that it feels sturdy and well built, so we will see

Won't be lighter once you get extended life batteries to keep it powered up. A bit worried about battery life, but hopefully the idle mode will save on the power also.

Also would like to see some good docking stations with remote/alarm (like another phone) come on line. That I think is another key for acceptance by the masses.

Yes, someone posted a video on the old thread of a Nexus One, I believe, that had bunch of sperm cells floating around on the home screen and encircling various app icons when they were touched. I thought it was pretty cool, actually, but not sure I'd want a bunch of randomly swimming sperm on my phone's home screen. I can just imagine the reaction from my wife if she saw it. :D

Good point about adding the weight of the extended battery.

I hope they release a dockstations similar to the droid, that thing is pretty sweet. I would probably get one for the office and one for my nightstand....

Personally, I don't understand why a moderator would close that thread . . . .
Yeah, in a perfect thread, there would be "topic-only" posts, but lets get real, I guarantee that NEVER happens in ANY thread.
I do agree that if the thread is called an "Official..." it should primarily be on-topic and the moderators should remove posts if it gets out of hand, but to close a thread all together could easily be construed as a "controlling issue" (not necessarily my opinion).
I am not one of the members that complained to the moderators, but I do agree that it can be frusterating to have to read through a bunch of "back-and-forth" just to get to the beef . . . . . . HOWEVER, there is an easy workaround . . . . I typically scrolled through the pages quickly until I saw a a post with several entries in a "Thank You" and I read the post. If I had time to kill or wanted a laugh, I would scroll slowly and pick up some of the humerous highlights.
On the other hand, lets say that the thread was supposed to be about the Incredible, but instead became focused on the Dallas Cowboys (or anything else WAY off topic), I could understand moving the thread to an off-topic section.
As mentioned, we'll all move on, but now, outsiders that are directed to this site (specifically for the Incredible) may have a difficult time finding the active conversation they are looking for if this thread keeps hoping around the site.
Bottom line, there is very little "Official" information on the Incredible, so if that thread was supposed to be facts only to be called "Official", it should have been cut down to about 8 or 10 posts and been made a Sticky.


On to the Incredible . . .
Personally, I can't wait to have one in my hands. I'd prefer an interchangeable backplate because I think the red really makes it stand out from all the other (non-Incredible) phones, but I also wouldn't want to be targeted as the guy that's "begging for attention".
