The ATR Sticky does have quite a bit of information in it true-however since y'all are all turbo over here(:thumbup:) I would like to clean it up for everyone who has been around as well as for the new people.
So many options but I know I will miss some.

Ill have to take a look at the atr guide again its been awhile.. :) I'm sure ill find something to add... I was thinking about making a guide with everything within on post instead of going from thread to thread...

Like oden (with tutorial)

Basically a quick (make your phone run faster) guide for someone new who doesn't want to do the research/understand it...

So basically a total package... for people who don't have the time to do research people who want a quick fix and nothing special... so they can get on with there life's...

I think this would be a great benefit for this site to have a quick start guide for beginers...

Let me know if this should be put together... I don't wanna spend all this time doing it for it to be lost in the forums... maybe it can be stickied?
 
I suggest that the post about rom manager should be in the guide. In big letters. There are a ton of threads about people who did it unknowingly, or ignorantly.

I completely agree.. I myself were not a victim but many were.... I say not even make it a link about it.. it should just be at the top of the page saying :eek::eek::eek:DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER!!!!:eek::eek::eek: make it so big people can't miss it... ::D

It is a good a idea. It is kind of what the sticky is for though. The whole idea is to make sure it is clear that this ROM must be used on reqs..these themes work for any ROM ..mods and tweaks available ..ect.
You can right guides on each different one if you want -video is even better.
I like to read..fact is most don't they just want it done-but we all know it doesn't work that way;)
 
i'd rather read also... not everyone can view videos on their phone...

I can but ill be there all day with 1x signal lol with 22kbs download :P

Id just plain prefer to read.Its easier to follow steps when their right in front of me and I dont have to follow a video
 
I would say find the latest most accurate guide on how to change bootanimations, poweron.wav files & shutdown screens & .ogg files. Where they go & how to change permissions. I know when I started searching there was a lot, some were just one person asking how to do it, instead of searching. I can even give a link to a website (is that allowed?) to a site that you can upload a mp3 using your phone & it will convert to .wav & .ogg files if you want to use your own sounds. (mine are dr who based)


My personal belief is that a rule should be made at the top of ATR sticky that if you brick your phone by attempting any guides in this sticky, you are not allowed to post about how stupid metro employees are & you are getting a free phone. Listen, I'm no angel myself, but that is effed up on so many leveles, even to me. Everytime I see it, I want to say something. I imaging after I've posted more if I keep seeing it I probably will start saying something.

i agree ^ when you brick your phone from customizing it most metro employees wont catch it or even know what to look for... but those few (like me) who know what they are looking for when someone brings in a bricked phone probably are into the same stuff with their phone and just kinda sneek it past the radar to help a fellow enthusiast out. i am a metro employee and like to flash roms and everything else i do is at my metro store... not all of us are complete idiots.


p.s. dont be mad at the employees... YOU have metro service too lol
 
The whole idea really all of us helping each other..so a no post ban might be a bit extreme lol
It will take some time to get it complete-great suggestions ya'll ..will start working on it Sunday -working doubles today and Saturday :(

Good idea..nuttmeg rocked it all over AF when he was a guide.
Have seen a few on the admire forums saying a worse signal after a prl update but at least the option would be there to try others:thumbup:

Oh I didn't mean not to help people who bricked! That's what we' re all here for, to help & learn. I just meant once you do not brag about how you then when & got a free replacement phone. I guess I shouldn't let my morals play into this. However, I think my idea about bootanimations,poweron .wav files & shutdown screens & .ogg files are valid.

LOL yea I got this too work but I really screwed up my phone LOL that's what really made me interested in all this stuff LOL... :banghead:
 
Also add on the atr thread at the top how to enter different modes... ie. Download and recovery mode...

1. To enter Download Mode power down phone plug in USB and hold camera button...(no need for the other steps)
2. To enter Recovery Mode, power down phone and hold Volume Down + Back key + Power button, Wait till the the 1st Samsung screen disappears and you see the second Samsung screening then release and your in recovery mode..

Add that to the guide its helpful...
