***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

I know this is somewhat off-topic, but T-mobile is announcing the availability of 3 new phones to their lineup, but not a single HTC Android device.

T-Mobile set to get Cliq XT, HTV HD2, and Nokia Nuron - SlashGear

I was checking out the Motorola Cliq and noticed it has a very similar form factor to the N1, albeit a bit thicker and not as big a screen. The HD2 everyone knows about and the Nokia Nuron, I have no idea.

But it's interesting that Motorola and Samsung seem to be the only phone makers releasing new Android handsets right now and though I hate to keep harping on it, I'm becoming more and more convinced that Apple has succeeded at scaring off the telco's from offering any new HTC handsets until their patent suit with HTC is settled.

I wish someone in the media would pin HTC down on this and ask them what their position on releasing new handsets running Android is, cuz I'm starting to get pissed!

I don't think I'd worry just yet.. I saw an article this AM about the Apple/Nokia suit. Something like Nokia is trying to get it pushed to mid 2012 or something? Please correct me if I am wrong anyone. But if that is the case, this could drag out for awhileeeeee. I don't think the suit will mess with the Incredible or the N1.

It does when the moderators nicely ask like three (3) times for members to stay on topic and they don't. That's direct defiance. All of the iPhone discussion in the thread honestly was making me not even want to read the thread, and I've been a member since December and was lurking since October. If the moderators say to stay on topic and to stop posting things such as half a page worth of rap song lyrics, then it's probably for a reason.

I just wish Slug would have given infractions or banned people instead of just locking the thread, but that was his call and it's over and done with now. Moving on...

lol my @ss probably woulda been cut. :o Woulda been like high school sports all over again! jk

I do apologize if I pissed anyone off on the other thread though!!!! :o

Alright folks, as much as i'd love to keep biitching about the closing of the old thread (and I REALLY have good reason to!) here's a tidbit that may get us truly back on track and discussing just the Incredible.

http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/53623-htc-incredible-specs-evergreen.html

Courtesy of our good ol' friend...you know who you are;). We appreciate you and your work and encourage you to keep it comin'!

BTW, the thread is now stickied so it should be easy for anyone looking for just the latest specs (and related relevant news) to find the info quickly. Thanks Mods or whoever "got my thread all sticky"! :D (Low blow: First good thing those dirty rotten good for nothin' low life...J/K)

Well dang, I want to know who did that rendering so I can personally thank them. Shoot me a PM if you have to.

Nah, it's OK. Just from now on, and I'm not specifically talking to you, when the moderators say something and are POLITE about it, just do what they say. For crying out loud, it's not like Slug just shut it down out of nowhere. He was practically pleading people to stay on topic and when it seemed as though no one was listening to him, a moderator, he decided to teach everyone a lesson. I just hope everyone learns from it and pays close attention to our moderators from now on. They're here for a reason and they're lenient and enjoy technology and phones just like the rest of us, but at the same time they should be respected and listened to instead of just ignored, as Slug obviously was.

Yep, that part i agree with 100%. Obey the rules, but if not obeyed, don't punish the masses that found a "water cooler", punish the individuals with temp bans, permanent bans, etc... i.e. clean up the problem. My larger concern is that i think the thread as a whole was good for this forum. It brough TONS of new people out of the shadows and posting, garnered popularity with other sites (Engaget, Phone Arena, etc...), etc... That should have been strengthened and encouraged for the majority who had the best intentions and behaved, and the problematic, but obnoxious, minority should have been taken care of tactically...which also implies with tact! Instead we got the ol' hammer of Thor to simply close the thread. What's done is done but i sincerely hope, in the spirit of lessons learned and continuous improvement, the Mods take some learnings away from this as well.

True & true.

My problem is I'm a jack@ss and always try to fit in that last stupid joke in hopes of making 1 of you laugh :D

ma badddddd

I would have rather the members who were off-topic and who continued to ignore the ,more than fair, two or three warnings simply be given infractions or possibly banned. I know you guys are doing your job, but it seems like making veteran members, such as myself and many others who play by the rules, suffer because of some new members who wouldn't stay on topic may have not been the best technique for keeping this sub-forum on topic. Sure, it may not be that big of a deal, but a lot of us put a lot of hours into that thread and most of us were consistently on topic with only strictly new information on the phone and banter regarding it. Because locking the thread didn't stop the problem, which is members who don't respect the moderators. It just moved the problem to another thread. I think the bad apples are the ones who should be punished, not everyone.

That's just my .02

There were never any "bad apples". Just people who disagreed on what should be said. Hey...you might think the posts should be absolutely and only about the Incredible...while the next guy (or girl) might think....hey it's fun to come here to get information...but it is also fun to learn about other things and to throw a few jokes around while we're at it.

We all have something in common...we're interested in the next great phone to be released on Verizon....and this looks to be the Incredible! Anytime there was news, or leaks we all got excited. I personally never looked at that thread as a "Sticky" information only thread.

I thought, and still do think, that it's amazing we were so civil, had many funny characters (Steven58) and many good informants. It was a great group. Would this keep everyone happy? Obviously not. Still, was it not a great place to wait for the Incredible? Did it not produce the internet's greatest Incredible leaks? I think it was fun and am very disappointed. BUT...it's good to see we have another place to visit now..and perhaps this will work out even better. If you come to the Unofficial thread...well...you have to expect unofficial stuff....correct?

As usual, VERY well put. +1

Does anyone know if that party in TX was a 1 day only event or is there still stuff today? My point being, maybe we will hear news of the Incredible from it today??

Well dang, I want to know who did that rendering so I can personally thank them. Shoot me a PM if you have to.

yep - nice rendering.

I see there is no clickable ring around the optical trackpad. Is this how the real phone will be does anyone know or is this just missed by the renderer?

Christ...i'd really like to know the motivation for a statement like that...i can't say i'm not having some of those same/similar feelings, but that doesn't mean that i'm gonna have diarrhea of the mouth. I'm sure you're aware that this is likely to have only one end result...

I do a lot of coaching and mentoring in my role at work and i think maybe that's something that this forum needs in some type of capacity. (maybe there is a role for that...is that what "Guide's" do?) The forum equivalent of "personal effectiveness", "conflict management", "persuasion and influence", etc...

In related/worthless news.....my favorite Taiwanese tester posted another picture....Still 6.4 MP resolution and still "Taken With a HTC ADR6300" and still worthless content in the picture.

Hopefully that turns into "Taken With a HTC Incredible" soon.

I was under the impression the optical trackball did click... But wait, is that even possible? lol If it clicked, wouldn't it essentially be like a regular trackball?

I think it was a one night event. The HD2 made an appearance as well as the Desire - but no info on the Incredible

I was lurking over at Android Central and wasn't getting any info on the Incredible. I found this site and got a boatload of info I had been wanting. I joined and started posting once in awhile. Everyone seems to be nice and freindly so I never saw this coming. I saw posts about keeping it on subject but as I stated before, threads tend to "drift" at times. I belong to a few forums on the web and they all get off track at times so I was not concerned. I was getting fed enough info to keep my interest up. I even went to Best Buy last night and asked about the Incredible and of course got no info but I told the salesperson about this sight and they were happy to see a thread about the phone and would check with her rep about the phone.

And the fearmongering continues.

How am I spreading "fear" of the Incredible not coming when all I'm doing, regardless of what you may think, is raising a legitimate concern? Those that are so sure it's coming keep preaching the mantra, "Just wait until CTIA. Just wait until CTIA". Yet we've heard from others that in years past typically no big announcements are made there and it's yet to be reported that Verizon even plans to hold a news conference or media event announcing any new handsets to the lineup.

Don't you think with the opening of CTIA being a week away that they would have alerted folks in the media that something BIG would be announced so everyone that perhaps hadn't planned on attending or weren't sure if they were going to attend could book their travel and get registered for credentials? It's a little late in the game to be doing this now if this were the case, coming from someone whose company participates in trade shows similar to this, but in the consumer hardgoods industry.

When we're planning to have a BIG product announcement or roll-out at a trade show we'll send invitations out over a month in advance so that customers and those in the media have sufficient time to make travel plans and attend. I suspect it isn't vastly different in other industries and if there were to be some big product announcement coming from Verizon at CTIA there would be much more "chatter" going on right now in the blogosphere and media than what I've seen, which is just about nil.

So if you and others want to put all your hopes on the coming of the Incredible in Verizon's CTIA basket, by all means do so. I'm going to proceed with caution and hope for the best, while expecting the worst. It will be much less painful that way if nothing is announced before or during.

The Optical trackpad on the desire clicks.

http://www.knowyourmobile.com/smart.../414500/mwc_htc_desire_review_first_look.html

As seen on the Legend, the trackpad is a much more efficient way of navigating around the Desire. With its optical trackpad in the centre of a raised, clickable ring, it's a much faster and responsive option compared to a trackball.

That resolution is correct. I have a picture and it say's 6.37MP.

I think its the photo that look like 4 of the phones, front, back, both sides, you can tell it isn't a real taken pic. looks really good tho!

Oh I'm a dumbass, I kept looking at the sticky post and just overlooking it. Haha thanks, that is really well done, but I do agree w/those that think it will have a click ring.
