From what NKT was saying and showing the Incredible (there I mentioned the phone so this is on topic) is in the last cycle of its testing phase is not completed testing. As for 2 weeks, there are probably phases. You still find things needing fixing. Broken stuff is analyzed and new task lists go out making phases of the testing. so the back and forth may take more then 2 weeks.

Absolutely. Wasn't it confirmed though that the testers had to return their phones to VZW? I suppose that could mean that more tweaks need to me made, and they will have to test agin. On the other hand, it seems that word was that the testers really liked the Incredible. Isn't it possible that the phone passed, and has been approved for final production/release?

TBH this is only half right, like I have said before if they feel the market is right and the phones do not have any total failures in the initial stages of testing (be it hardware ir software) they will move along with the release. It has happened before and will happen again, the most recent example being the N1. Had they completed the testing phases they would have realized the screen cracking issue and the multi-touch hardware issue.

I see. So basically I'm going off on the ideal and not reality, awesome! Oh well as long as the Incredible (now an on topic post) doesn't summon daemons from another dimension to steal my soul I guess I can live with whatever problems it may have.
Though I wonder if my ideal testing scenario is close to Verizon's methods as they've been known for being bastards in the testing area.

Unfortunately, as a Storm 1 user, I can say that plan was an epic FAIL! I'm not sure that VZW would risk repeating the same mistake.

Well alot of that had to do with basic design. No amount of testing was going to fix surepress so the Incredible will have a leg up. As long as there are no hardware problems and no major software problems I say launch the thing.

I'm still curious about the variance in hardware between what NKT had in hand (no onboard 6.8ish gb storage) and Sericson (on board storage).

With that sir, I absolutely agree- bring on the Incredible! It sounds like Incredible is in a much better state now than the Storm ever was/will be.

I can't imagine something like that would change from test to launch. Something on the outside like the back or bezel, sure. But an internal component like that? I would doubt it.

Oh i agree, i'm just curious which is the actual spec as we've heard of both version very recently and both sources are credible.

Hey trust me I know how you feel, I have a storm 1 had to get it after my curve died ( and by died I mean dropping it from the 3rd story apt... long story). But it was a 3rd gen and the problems my company found were fixed but the other problems arose. It was Verizon's and RIMs rush to get out a potential iPhone killer that caused it, and truth be told Verizon isn't very good at learning from mistakes.

My source at VZW told me that he was going to get his hardware revision yesterday. As far as the revision he said "HTC needed to bring a better product. It went from being a middle level item to a high end."

When I asked about a release date he said very soon.

To be fair the Incredible has a lineage. The Storm really didn't. Had the Storm 2 been the Storm 1 things would have been much better for Blackberry.

And yet still, I read the other day that BB has recalled a bunch of Storm 2's for screen problems- it seems they just can't get that touch screen right.

In reference to the questions about the Saturday release date I believe this isn't completely uncommon. As far as I can remember when I lined up to get my BB Tour (yes, I deserve a flame for that) it was on a day that I was off of work so it had to have been a Saturday or a Sunday.

After further digging it was July 12, 2009...a Sunday oddly enough...

Well if they want the Incredible to really go after the Iphone they need to either leave the internal storage as is or increase it. That way the user could (if they fork over more dough) get more storage on the incredible then on any iphone.

Haha- classic:D

Yes, but the Storm 1 was a mostly new platform for BB and had many new moving parts that was new ground for BB. The Incredible is already much further along in development due to its htc predecessors.

Basically htc just added some more lipstick on the pig (red at that) and voila' INCREDIBLE!

In your opinion, would that explain the confusion with test unit specs (processor clock, on-board storage)?

Not to speak for NKT but I think he only had it in his hand for a very short time. I believe he said some of what he stated was from his reading of the documentation that came with the phone. I also believe he later stated that he found evidence that went along with the onboard storage that Sericson stated when he went back through the materials.

Check out the N1 testing videos - maybe on youtube. They those suckers with this testing machine. Also tumbled them. It was impressive. After watching it you will only wonder what the hell type of jeans those people are wearing????

I think that the carriers do not really care if they lose some money on the phones. They are recouping their costs on the 2 year contract. They are also counting on all of us to buy the phone when it comes out and meet whatever the breakeven mark is. You know that if they are charging $199.99 for the phone, it is not what they paid to buy the phone in bulk.

Yes he made a post about the 8GB moviNAND storage listed in the documents which is the same memory that the Pre+ uses for onboard storage.
