Root [Root] One Click Root for Samsung Admire (SCH-R720) :: Windows/Mac/Linux :: 9/12/2011

I got this error as well - but then i Installed SuperUser and everything is working fine. I have root access and can remove bloatware and tether the phone.

Download a root checker from the app store to see if you have root access. Thats what I did and it said I had it. Got Titanium Backup running on the phone right now with no issues.

you said you had this erro as well but didnt describe how you got through it, so please do so.

Just rooted another using the update in the OP.
Did not push Superuser to the phone but after downloading it from GPlay and a reboot

Root Complete:thrasher:

I downloaded admire root for windows in my admire.
I opened the file adb.exe, now my phne is stuck in constant vibrate mode & on the samsung screen. How do i fix this??? please help, im afraid I lost my phone & dont know what to do ): ):

Hey! Checkthisout;
Go to your phone and open settings/phone info and then repeatedly tap the android version number for a second and a hidden painting will be revealed, it won't hurt your phone.
I just did it on my unrooted Admire and it's perty kewl.. Sorry to troll your post btw :vroam:

To root your phone you must use a CPU. Pull the battery out put it back in and see if it boots up.
If not proceed here to restore your phone.
[ACS] THE ODIN THREAD: Return to stock

Managed to follow this thread to the very last post,
wasn't able to download what i believe may be the most recent driver/"run".bat file, idk. I ran it, the sch720 rebooted twice and verified that it wasn't successful reading and following the thread as much as i could understand. (not new to this, it'll be my third phone rooted if successful, 2 before were vm670's) I've already posted a new thread about an issue that resulted from what i did.
  1. Used the Odin CMW to get a recovery, then flashed a few different roms, including the Admiral Beast. Sweet!
  2. Wasn't able to root phone that way, so i did One-click windows, got:
    * daemon not running. starting it now *
    * daemon started successfully *
    error: unknown host service
    " Triggering core dump..."
    [1] Segmentation fault app_process /dev...
    " Rebooting phone. It may buzz a lot and loop on boot. Don't panic."
    remount succeeded
    312 KB/s (26264 bytes in 0.082s)
    link failed File exists
    " Installing Superuser.apk. If this hangs, just cancel it with Ctrl+C after a
    few seconds,"
    " and you'll be finished rooting your phone. Reboot and enjoy."
    931 KB/s (196521 bytes in 0.206s)
    Error: Could not access the Package Manager. Is the system running?
    " Persistence complete, enjoy your rooted phone!" Press any key to exit the script.
    Press any key to continue . . .
    (actually copied this from another post in this thread so, this isn't an exact copy) and found that SuperUser had installed yet the phone was still not rooted as far as Root Checker Basic said.
Not sure on what to do next? any help is appreciated!

Download Superuser from the GPlay and reboot-then check to see if root shows:)

Try taking the battery out of the back for a second then put it back in, reboot the phone and see if it is back to normal.
Also; If you have one of those really hard snap together cases on your phone that are sometimes a bear to remove to get to the battery/back of phone; The easiest way to remove them is to use a credit card, run it along the seems to remove custom case to get to the back of phone.
Good luck :shakehands:

@GBiggi
I'll try that asap, won't be able to get to work on it till after 4-5pm est. I'll. Let you know my results and any additional useful info about this. Thank you

okay GP force closes, i re-install, same result
the only guess i can must is
recovery>Factory reset and try again

Have found the easiest way-while it cost around $3 is root explorer from GPlay. TB is excellent for app backups or freezing apps but Root Explorer makes deleting totally painless.

If you can't afford being a student get a job m8)

I'm a noob, and I apologize lol. If I use a new custom ROM will I have to like redo everything on my phone, download all my apps, etc?
Its all good:)
Welcome to AF BTW:D
Just go here:http://androidforums.com/admire-all...-recovery-not-compatible-rom-manager-yet.html
Its in the link above I posted and install recovery on your phone. Once that is done make a backup-then you always have a good returning point if something comes up.
Take a look at the ATR link above. Lots of good information in there.

I already got it with the nobloat free, but I'm still going to take a look at this link. It seems way easier. :D Plus I like the returning point.

Thank you VERY MUCH for your help :D and for the warm welcome xD I'm pretty excited to learn more about these amazing phones :D

Hi there!

My Boyfriend and I spent much of yesterday afternoon trying to root his phone and things. Finally got to where I think he has to delete metro pcs "bloatware" ...in order to get past the metro pcs site? Is that right? I have no idea what bloatware means, or what root means, or what superuser and titanium backup are or do. He has downloaded them both, but then what is he supposed to do with them? I have read most of this thread, and still can't wrap my head around this last step. I can't believe all of you folks seem to know what the heck all of this stuff means. We only got this far by following the directions and doing the steps over and over.
If anyone is willing to explain to us cave dwellers, it would be so appreciated.

I followed the steps from the 1st post didn't work at first... but if you do it exactly as says it works as long as super user is installed from play store 1st.

So im trying to root my admire following these instructions( only difference is im using samsung admire drivers). Right now my phone is stuck at the samsung boot screen and constantly vibrating. on the cmd screen it gets stuck at this

* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
error: unknown host service
"[*] Triggering core dump..."
[1] Segmentation fault app_process /dev...
"[*] Rebooting phone. It may buzz a lot and loop on boot. Don't panic."

It's been like this for about 20+ mins. Am i doing something wrong?
