Help Galaxy Note Busy Signal+Battery

I just got a Samsung Galaxy Note and sometimes when people call my phone it gives them a busy signal, even though it's not. Anyone know why?

My second question is that I've noticed that the battery drains fast. Any advice on that? I have WhatsApp installed, is it because of this app?

I love this phone but if anyone could help me with these problems, that would be great.

The busy signal does not come from the phone but from the network you are connected to. It could be that you are at the edge of a cell and don't have enough signal to stay in contact with the cell tower. In such a case you may be marked as busy rather than out of reach. Does this happen when you are in different locations or just in one or two?

Any application that is constantly syncing information will prevent the phone from sleeping and will chew through the battery. The first hint can be found by opening the settings of the phone and selecting about phone -> battery usage. This will list which apps are using the most power. You can also install Onavo count to see which apps are using the most data (and potentially keeping the phone awake).

Android OS is using 88% of battery! I don't have any apps listed on there. Just Display (6%), cell standby (2%), Internet (2%), and phone idle (2%).

Ok, so we are not looking at an application that is directly running and consuming battery. However, it could be an application that is constantly waking up the OS to poll some service. The 2% phone idle is the key here I am guessing.

I would try to put the phone into airplane mode for an hour or so (if you can live without it) and see if this makes a difference to your battery consumption. If so then it is something accessing the network and Onavo count will show you what that is. If not then we have more information.
