Root Display doesn't "wake" during phone calls

Jeffery

Android Enthusiast
When I place a phone call, my display turns off and will not turn back no matter what buttons I press unless the other party hangs up or I pull the battery and restart the phone.

I don't think it's a ROM issue, b/c it's happened with multiple ROMs and stock.

Is there anyway to fix this problem without sending it back to Verizon? I don't really want to try that b/c I think I voided my warranty when I had a third party fix the glass a couple months ago.

You can try flashing the fxz file and start fresh. how to flash 5.5.893 or 5.9.902 with rsdlite

Do you have a screen protector on the phone?

1) Already flashed fxz

2) No screen protector

I have tried just about everything and I am certain that the problem started after I had my screen replaced by a third party phone repair company ... I was considering calling Motorola and asking them how much they would charge to refurbish my phone.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated :)

I found in Dialer/Settings/Call settings an option for Voice Privacy, so I toggled it off just to see what it did and it fixed the problem I was having.

*thought I fixed it, but having the same problem again... I'm reflashing .902 again to see if I can find a remedy

Your light "face" sensor maybe bad. There is an app to test it but I have to remember it first.
Androsensor. Check it out in Google play. It is free

Oddly, androsensor showed the sensor working fine.

I used Pathsaver to go back to .902/rooted again and the display during phone calls worked fine stock. Then, I installed Axiom and the display didn't work again. After that, I tried eyeballer's, AOKP, and CM9 nightlies and had the same problem.

So, I flashed back to stock/.902/rooted and installed Eclipse 2.2 and display works properly during calls.

I guess I'll just stay on Eclipse 2.2.

BTW, I'm using the ICS Keyboard .apk with the Eclipse ROM and it makes Gingerbread not so bad, especially with all of the extras/theming from Eclipse.
