Root Who's used Koush's ROM?

I am glad you posted that as I was just about to post saying "damn this ROM keeps rebooting, especially when I am playing music" lol.

Turning it off is simply editing the build.prop and re-uploading, right? Or should I also pull / delete the files I uploaded when enabling?

I am leery to just change JIT to fast, I think that is when my boot looping started, as opposed to when I enabled JIT the first time, now that I think about it.

Also seems that I need to move to 5.0.4.3.

Same instructions as before for those of us not yet on Clockwork?

Actually, since I am pretty sure I am sticking with this ROM (at least for thois week) I suppose I can go ahead and swap over to Clockwork....

Feh. Decisions, decisions. Does Clockwork allow fo updating so as to not lose all apps / settings?

Yeah, you should be able to update to 5.0.4.3 from 5.0.4.2 without losing data.

Actually, there's not much different at all. The wallpapers are back, and there's a greyed out option for Apps2SD (teaser).

Other than that, I can't find any differences between this and 5.0.4.2

But, I took the opportunity to install ClockworkMod recovery, as well as do a clean install with it and trying out my new shiny copy of Titanium backup (works great!)

Does TiBu also backup settings? If it does, and it works with protected apps, then I might finally start looking into it....I already have it actually, but haven't had the time to lay with it to figure out how it works....

hmm, I tried both the P3 kernels (1.1 and 1.2)...the 1.2 would boot up then freeze and reboot. I finally got it up and dropped it to 600, but it was still running rather hot. I then flashed the 1.1 and it would just get stuck at the Moto boot screen and reboot from there. Dunno wtf is going on, but I'm going back to 5.0.4.3 on the stock kernel for now.

Does anyone know how to disable the out of focus background when you hold the power button to turn the phone off? It lags out and makes everything extremely slow. Other than that I have absolutely zero complaints. This is the best, fastest ROM I've used yet. To solve YouTube not defaulting to HQ, I simply unzipped the original zip file, and replaced the YouTube.apk in the system/app folder with the one from BB 0.8, zipped it all again using 7zip (open source FTW) then reflashed the ROM. It worked perfectly.

Got a little tidbit of info here for you guys:

Koush said:
5.0.4.3 is not a stable mod. It is highly experimental! That's why the sticky post up top has not been updated with the new link, and why it was not announced. But to clear up some questions, the purpose of 5.0.4.3 is two things:

Separate Google apps from the ROM like CyanogenMod for N1.
Test ROM download and addons in ROM Manager.

In addition:
There is a mostly baked Apps2SD implementation, though it is disabled.
Launcher defaults at 5 screens.
Readded Cyanogen wallpapers.
Fixed /system/etc/fstab for Droid.

So, use at your own risk!

So, proceed with caution.

Lol I was just reading that, actually.

I think I am gonna try it anyway, as I just made my first TiBu, in UD 7.0, so I want to see if I'll be able to restore it in CM 5.0.4.3.

I'll probably be up another hour sorting everything out, as I just bought Koushik's ROM Manager, and now I need to check my backup, then make a Nandroid backup, then update to UD 7.8, then test, then make another Nandroid and another TiBu, and finally change over to Clockwork and finally install 5.0.4.3....

Good thing I only have one class tomorrow....too bad I went to all 5 of mine today (even though it was my birthday lol)....

Running pretty well for me. I installed it last night (didn't wipe...just updated basically). Navigation worked fine this morning and the phone is really flying with the 1.2GHz kernel. I haven't installed JIT cause...I'm sure I'd have to uninstall it and I'll take pride in the benchmarks that Fabulous got and claim them as my own :D

Installed .03 last night with the 1.2 kernel and something screwy happened with my wifi, wouldn't turn on at all. Then I read the disclaimer by Koush and have just restored to .02. with the 1.2 kernel. Experienced two reboots and so far its running well. Hopefully .03 is up and running soon with apps2sd!

5.0.4.3 also wreaked havoc on my protected apps. Would get immediate force closes upon launching.

I'm back to the ol' reliable as well.

No problems with protected apps here. Restored them with Titanium after a clean install and no problems with the stock 1000 kernel. I think a lot of the problems I had were with Clockwork so I am using SB to backup and restore. Been stressing 5.0.4.3 and all is well.

When downloading 5.0.4.3 in the ROM Manager it asks me if I want to include Google Apps and Modules. Can anyone explain to me exactly what those are?

I figure google apps is just google maps, voice, goggles etc, right?

It works perfectly. I took the YouTube.apk from Pete's newest ROM and did this in adb shell

Code:
su
rm /system/app/YouTube.apk
exit
adb push YouTube.apk /system/app
adb shell
reboot
Of course I had already placed YouTube.apk in my tools folder for the sdk/adb.

This worked great for me... thanks! Now here's to hoping that some of the features available in other ROMs (HQ video recording and the like) :)

I never got around to installing 5.0.4.3, and I need to disable JIT in 5.0.4.2, but since I got my TiBu license today, I may just wait, then start with a fresh 5.0.4.2 and do like UBR and take pride in the benches that Fab got, while making mine the stable CM I want it to be,

LMAO...Yeah just like me...hmm...well Fab's results didn't do it for me :D I enabled JIT and I have been running stable for a few hours now...I'm being optimistic! Man, it is just SO much more responsive turned on. I have had success with 5.0.4.3 where others have complained about stability issues or having other misc problems with voice searches, SU, and other apps. So maybe I am in the minority but so far so good!

I just purchased my TiBu license today as well. Unfortunately, the key file was sorted into my junk folder in GMail and I emptied it... Didn't notice it was there until it was emptying! :(

I e-mailed Joel (dev) to send me the license again, but now I have to wait until he gets around to doing so... ugh!
