Root Simple Gold Card Doesn't Show Any Devices

I'm following the guide here: [Tutorial] How to root CDMA wildfire s and s-off and other great tutorials - xda-developers

The problem is when I run Simple Gold Card as administrator, no devices show up in the "Select MMC" menu. None at all. I checked My Computer and the SD card is showing up in there fine, I can click on it and browse the files, etc.

I can't open HTC Sync, either. The window flashes on the screen for a second and then it goes away.

Xjonquilx, welcome to Android Forums. Let's see if we can't help you get this straightened out.

Make sure you have all the basics down:

Before beginning, make sure that SDK tools for Android, Java runtime, and HTC Sync are installed on your Windows computer. If you run Mac, I can't help you. I avoid all that narcissistic iStuff like the plague.

Before you begin, make sure that your computer can properly recognize the phone:​

1. To get up-to-date USB drivers for your device, install the latest version of HTC Sync. But the program sometimes causes conflicts, so during this procedure, make sure it is not running. Open Task Manager in Windows and kill it. If you don't use HTC Sync, you may also open Control Panel and uninstall it without uninstalling the drivers.

2. With the phone on, connect the USB cable. Make sure the phone is connected in Charge only mode.

3. Enable USB debugging by going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging.

If all of this working right and you're still having trouble, post a reply.

If the window flashes for just a second, it might be a cable problem. If the problem persists, try to use a different cable

There was an update to HTC Sync that fixed the problem with the window just flashing. HTC Sync detects the phone just fine.

I have everything installed that I need.

Yes, I have tried Simple Gold Card on charge only, disk drive, and HTC Sync. It doesn't work with ANY of those settings.

Having the same problem its the drivers I hope I figure it out if I do I will let you all know how I fix it
