I'm not missing VVM...replaced it with GV
Just checked out XDA and these 2.1 ROMs are NOT fully working. No visual voicemail and some apps like the B of A app dont work. Those are two things right there I use quite often. Not worth giving it up just to get a half assed version of 2.1
If you install Fresh 2.0 or Damage, does it wipe your phone? Does everything including the camera and video work correctly? Can you download 1.6+ apps from the market?
Well I guess that depends on your definition of fully working. The VVM issue was already mentioned. The reason it doesn't work is because the 2.1 ROM's are based on Verizon's ROM, not Sprint's (since it hasn't been released). But again, there are alternatives. As far as the BofA app, I'm going to guess that if it doesn't work on any of the custom ROMs it probably won't work when Sprint releases there's either. That sounds to me as if BofA needs to update their app to work with Android 2.1, but that's just my guess. So in my opinion, the 2.1 ROM is fully functional. But your point is valid. If you rely on that app, you can't go to 2.1 if it doesn't work for you.

Get Google Voice, use it with your own # for voicemails.
As far as B of A, the web site works fine, which is basically the app anyway (the app kinda sucks cause it's their portal copied with barely any new functionality).
Solved!
You cant just get GV, you need an invite.
The other problem with GV is that you have to use your minutes to call your VM.

I've tried... they've said I have to be on the 99 unlimited plan, not the 69 plan.

Mbell - thanks for sharing the info about the potential release date.
(I'm just talking about GV with your own #, not full GV)It is what they said, but it is not true. I have the 1500mins family plan and I have it. Go directly to retention and they may be able to help you...

That doesn't make any sense. If you have the $99 unlimited (emphasis on unlimited) plan, why would you need a pick 3 option? I don't have the pick 3 option and haven't tried to get it yet, but if they used that excuse, it is a bunch of crock.
You don't have to use your minutes, it emails you your voicemail as an MP3 with transcription to your gmail account.(I'm just talking about GV with your own #, not full GV)

1. The invite usually doesn't take long to get.

------I think that is what it says------- my eyes hurt!!!
I got one sentence in and decided I was too old for all that squinting... and didn't feel like zooming in on it.
Thanks! Sounds like a bunch of marketing crap....
Not sure why anyone is surprised. The announcement Sprint made through Twitter was for Q2 of this year - which does not even start until April 1.So... it will (hopefully) be coming out in April, and not in March. What a surprise.
