Questions about ICS

Hello. I just got the SGS2. I noticed that Ice cream sandwich is out for the phone.
I was wondering if there was any problems with it?
Is the battery better than 2.3.6.
What is different about ics?

ICS has been released for some versions of the SGS2, but not the AT&T version (SGH-i777). There are always issues with any major update to an OS, but nothing beyond a minor annoyance with the released versions. When the official OTA comes from AT&T then we will see.

Once the ICS update comes out, will all our content (apps, settings, etc..) roll over or will we have to backup the data and transfer it over?

The OTA updates are non-wipe. In other words you should retain most of your apps and settings (except those incompatible with ICS. If you experience a lot of problems after the update, a factory reset should take care of it.

It seems like forever for Samsung/AT&T to release ICS which said in Q2, and Q3 is almost started. I am inches away from installing CM9...

Considering they were over a year late with Gingerbread on the Captivate, don't expect them to move any faster on the GS II. Oh and expect a lot of misinformation. Samsung NEVER gives a clear answer.

But it's not Samsung holding it back. It's AT&T holding it back trying to get all their bloat wear onto it. Samsung has already released it to the GS2.

I agree. If it was Samsung at fault, why does the international version of the SII and the Note get relatively faster updates and bug fixes? Because they don't have to go through at&t's dreadful development and testing department. I don't know if the developers in Korea working for Samsung just work faster or work more hours than the ones in the U.S. working for at&t, but the difference in time length they take for getting an update out is massive.

I'm also inclined to wonder whether at&t plans on waiting on the SII ICS update until the SIII comes out, so they can have a month or so for flaunting the SIII as being the only Samsung phone on at&t with ICS. Wouldn't surprise me, considering that's what they pretty much did with the Infuse 4G.
