I think on the original thread a number of us agreed that the HUGE VZW advertising blitz was in part due to the DROID being VZWs first Android device, that could potentially be a reason for the week or so of advertising leading up to the release...so with that said, I think VZW might be skipping the pre-release ad stuff to save some money, but advertise it in the same manner they did the DROID back when it first came out...just my 0.02 cents

good call. I think most likely they will annouce the phone, then around the time it is released and after you will see commercials and advertising materials for it. They might want to see the public reaction to it first as well...

If people start goin' buck wild over it they will probably ramp up advertising. If people aren't interested you won't see *hit. I.E. the palm phones, I rarely see jack for them.

They just released two phones yesterday, and if it wasn't for the fact that I was looking for information on my account, I would have never known.

I think if the Incredible is released with the rumored/confirmed specs we have then yes. They should market this bad boy like crazy. Maybe they will! It's too early to tell. I just don't know if they wanna drop another 100mil on advertising

Well, if they can pickup enough new subscribers by doing so then I don't see why not? Where does Sprint get all their money to run the ad's they do on sporting events? They aren't that cash positive, yet all throughout the NFL playoff's you saw ad's for Sprint featuring the chick in the Steelers jersey and Flavor Flav. LOL!

And as others have pointed out previously, I think the NCAA Basketball Tournament and the Final Four in particular would be great vehicle for Verizon to push the Incredible and gain maximum exposure for it with the general population. The Masters is going to be another "must see" event with Tiger Woods making his return. So a couple of great marketing opportunities coming up for Big Red if they wish to capitalize on it. Of course the key is having the phone available at that time, which is stil up in the air.

BTW, Kappy, even though you're a Jo-Pa fan you're alright with me! ;-)

:D Glad we could put our differences aside on this one haha

I still try to keep up to see if anything new is posted, but after sifting through currently 18 pages of this train wreck - it's hard not to understand why they closed the last one.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate everyone's input, but it very frustrating sifting through some of the garbage.

Not hatin' - just statin'

Ha, ha, ha......Enjoy being on top while it lasts. Perhaps UofM will reclaim it's rightful place as top dogs of the Big 10 after Paterno finally calls it quits and Sweater Vest Tressel retires. :)

What is the name of this magnificent specimen? I must have it. Is this the rumored HTC Ludicrous?

The HTC Ludicrous....is that the one that comes with gang tats on the case and the voice prompts sound like someone gargling with glass mixed with bad rap lyrics? I think it ships with a little baggie of white stuff in the battery compartment.

MODERATORS...

I think this thread needs to be closed. It's a continuation of the last thread which was closed. Seriously, 15 pages of nothing. Please close this thread and don't open a new one until something about the release date is OFFICIAL!!!!

hi all
first off are u kidding? ur crying about the posts here? then dont read it noone is making you come here... i have been lurking here since the last thread was at page 100 and now u wanna have this one shut down because it dosent fit what u want it to be... too bad other like myself enjoy reading what other have to say

Some good points, Kappy. When paired w/ other info we know, I think A makes the most sense. Combine the early upgrade promo w/ the BOGO deal and the 2.1 update and the Droid & Eris look pretty good. That gives VZW about 2 weeks to push these two phones before they usher in the next generation: the Devour and the Incredible.

I think we'll then see a significant March Madness ad campaign to generate excitement for the release of the Devour (3/25) & Incredible (3/27?), followed by 4 more weeks of the early upgrade promo.

From a marketing standpoint, it seems like a pretty logical way to satisfy Droid/Eris users, entice potential Devour/Incredible customers, and get a significant number of people signed to 2-year contracts before AT&T launches the next iPhone in June. Just my $.02.

Except it doesn't apply if you already have a 3g smart phone.

No offense but your post isn't anymore valuable than any of the others.

What else is one to do when there is no frickin' new news on this phone, but ruminate ad nauseam over what's been previously discussed and speculate on the future? Don't you think if there was any solid new news out right now on the Incredible you wouldn't be sifting through countless pages of drivel?

There is a stickied thread w/ just the facts. I suggest you just go there instead. I mean really, you're a big boy, who's making you sift through garbage?

Nobody here. And you is hatin.

Maybe, but not likely. :p Get rid of that dirty bum Rich Rod and maybe you got a shot ;)

If you get frustrated, then just look at the sticky thread....that post gets updated in a very reasonable amount of time, and you won't have to be frustrated(or whine about being frustrated) in this thread.

...

The problem with Verizon is that they have absolutely nothing in their lineup that rivals it, for if they did they'd be kicking some serious arse!...
1000% correct. Though Incredible, if marketed aggressively, will hopefully change that.

The Moto Droid is the closest thing they have, but doesn't have the form factory or cache (the French pronunciation, not "cash") of the iPhone. The Incredible should be Verizon's answer to the iPhone after three years, but if they don't create a "buzz" leading up to the release of the phone and get general the populace thinking about it as an alternative to the iPhone they stand to blow a golden opportunity to take market share away from AT&T.
Again, I couldn't agree more. I was excited for Droid and waited for Droid but was turned off by it's hard, sharp feel and unusable keyboard. Very disappointing. Instead, I picked up a Palm Pre. Pre is the great phone that could have been. Excellent, graceful OS though still a bit laggy and feels like a beta version in some places. The hardware though - sub par. Mushy keyboard, creaky slider and it just felt delicate. There's no way that thing was going to survive two years in my house. It went back and now I wait. And wait. And wait. For an Incredible phone.

To me the Incredible, Desire, N1 and SuperSonic are the first wave of iPhone rivals and ironically all are HTC handsets or run on HTC hardware. I don't even consider Android handsets from other manufacturers, as they are a step below in terms of design and function.
And this is exactly why Apple is picking on HTC. They are competition. HTC is producing excellent hardware and Android is changing the landscape of smartphone OSes. There will be fewer and fewer proprietary OSes and handsets as Android evolves and the masses can see how flexible smart-phoning can be. I said it before but it warrants retelling: companies do themselves a disservice by not licensing their software to hardware companies that can mass produce an excellent product quickly. Palm, Inc. take note of this idea.

The problem is are we ever going to see this phone and is Verizon gong to be able to parlay the success of the Moto Droid and have the Incredible be the launch pad for an all-out assault against AT&T?
That is the question of the day. In many places, AT&T wouldn't even be a player without the iPhone because their coverage is so spotty. I understand and appreciate VZWs testing protocols but they really need to figure out how to speed it up.

Maybe, but not likely. :p Get rid of that dirty bum Rich Rod and maybe you got a shot ;)
Believe me, many of us here would love to throw him out on his ear, myself included. What a crappy two years it's been with him and I don't see this year being much of an improvement.

Honestly to everyone that wants this thread closed go back a page. There is a thread there that says "This is how off topic convos should start"

Go click on it, the author already requested no useless banter, but the fact of the matter is this; if you want to talk to the guys that get the info, they're in here, and so are the rest of us.

You can't win'em all, so sift or wait is pretty much what it's come down to. If you don't feel like reading everything just scan pages for posts with multiple thanks. Those posts will always have the important information, seems easy to me.
