Help 4G Speed Issues

Hey everyone, I've had the Connect for over a month now and have noticed that my 4G speeds have been awful; I'm just curious if this is common or if there is something wrong with my service/phone. My average speed is 825kbps down and 1250 up, I've tested it on several different servers and from different locations, over the course of the past week and a half.

I'm running Broken Out ROM now, but it wasn't any different on stock either. My data usage is like 4%, I have Metro's 2.5 gb plan.

Are these speeds normal? If not, does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

I'm in downtown Boston btw.

Cheers!

Well i live in fla and here i average between 3-5 Mb and on here people have reported as high as 15Mb in dallas but those speeds are horrible. Does it say 4g? Cause if it does and those r the speeds u get i would be calling metro cause ur payin for 4g and barely getting 3g

Yes, it does say 4G; I also have the latest PRL and all that, so I don't know what the problem is. What I find most disturbing is that the upload speed is consistently higher than the download.

Thanks...
I guess I'll call them up after work and see what they have to say.

But he changed roms??? Metros customer service sucks and will probably tell him to take it to a store. They never fixed or answered anything over the phone for me. Something is up with your Internet tho.

Then there are two other possible causes.

You're in a good area but a bad spot. I get 4mbps down where I'm at but certain spots of the city it's slow or doesn't work at all.

Your phone isn't set up properly. Something that can be fixed at a metro store.

Good luck

make sure u return ur phone to stock before you take it back to the metro store or they will not touch it

Thanks...I know that, but I'm wondering if I have to go to a corporate store or just any Metro Dealer for a repair/replacement...Do you guys know?

So I went to the corporate store today and after the guy giving me the run-around for about 20 minutes, he told me that he's ordering a replacement for me...that it may take several days and I'll get a text when it arrives at the store. Is he jerking me around or is this the actual process? I find it difficult to believe that they couldn't replace it on the spot...

It's the actual process.
Metro isn't the one giving you the new phone, although they're issuing it to you, they're doing it with expressed permission from LG. They have to wait on LG to ship the new phone out. It's typically overnight, but that isn't always the case, and the cutoff time for new orders is weekdays 'till 5pm local time. So if you went after that, and it's the weekend, it could be Wednesday before you see your new phone.
I've had mine replaced four times now, and every time it would be a few days. Meanwhile I was welcome to keep my phone, or they would hold it.
The ONLY time that you're REQUIRED to turn your phone in BEFORE you get your new one, is when you're using the insurance plan that you pay monthly for, and the reason for that is because they'd rather try to fix yours, then gie you a whole new one, and have to fix yours later.

So when this happens are you getting a refurbished phone like you would if you were like with....let's say Sprint?

I'm not sure, I'll let you know when I get the replacement next week. Given my experiences with them, I would say yes.

The guy at the store re-programmed my phone and skrewed me bad; I was able to make calls but couldn't receive them, nor send/receive texts. Turns out he had set it to LTE only; took me like 3 hours to figure out the problem.

...and that's the guy who was supposed to be fixing the damn thing. ;)
