so i know this is a little off topic but how do you talk to a verizon CSR online I can never find the link for it and i know it used to be there.

Too bad theres no television at work. Makes me wanna just take off that day so I can watch the coverage lol.

Edit: Do you know if they have streaming coverage that I can watch online?

I believe the post said that they would be blogging live from the Event. So maybe no actual video coverage but, Twitter and the Blogosphere will be alive and kicking for sure.

I'll be ORBing it up I suppose. Gotta get everything finely tuned. Stream news about my new phone on my old one. Gotta love it. I hope it is at least announced at CTIA.

Man, I want to see everything live!!! I don't wanna read about it or look at pictures!:( (which, I guess at this point will be my only choice unless I can talk my boss into buying a TV and adding cable for the office:rolleyes:)

Ok, please don't flame me here - this was probably answered some 50 pages ago, but because it was discussed over about 5 pages total, I was never 100% sure on the definitive answer: Does the Incredible have a mini or micro USB charger port? Thanks! ;)

I have a couple questions a bit off topic...I'm coming from a jailbroken iPhone and have a few questions about rooting.

1) Can you make custom wallpapers and icons for the browser and such without rooting?

2) I pretty decent with technology, I have jailbroken many phones and just wondering how complicated it is to root?

3) I know with my iPhone since it's jailbroken it likes to crash ALOT and I was just wondering how stable the Android phones are when they are rooted?

4) this is a dumb question but, does the Incredible have an ambient senor and a proximity sensor?

bump

1) I'm not sure I understand what you mean by custom wallpaper, other than just changing it to something other than the stock wallpapers (i.e. pictures, etc.), in which case, yes you can do that. In terms of icons, I don't think you can do that right out the box, however I believe there are apps that you can download that can customize - without having to root your phone. Otherwise, yes you will have to root.

2) Not complicated at all. There are numerous tutorials out there on how to root that provide step-by-step instructions on doing so. I personally don't have an Android phone so I can't root my phone, however I have read up on some of those tutorials that I mentioned, as well as watched a few YouTube vids on how to root (plenty of vids on YouTube as well). Its really a matter of do you understand the language that their using (you don't have to be a tech genius, but some vocabulary is necessary) and just following the steps.

3) Depends on the ROM. There are plenty of ROMs out there that are very stable with almost no bugs. However, there are also plenty of the opposing variety - ones that have you constantly FC-ing apps, keeping you locked in the booting sequence, lag/glitchy, etc. Typically the ones that are very popular, and well known - take for example, MoDaCo's ROMs or Cyanogen's ROMs, are very stable and have most the kinks worked out

4) Although I don't think this has been confirmed, just looking at the pictures, I can tell there was a small black circle to the left of the earpiece (with the front of the phone facing you), which I do believe is a proximity sensor (looks exactly like the one on my current phone, so I have no reason to believe it isn't one)

Hope that helps.

hmmm I WISH the Incredible had Wireless N
Honestly, as nice as that would be, it really isn't necessary. I would say that a majority of the general populace, including myself, have G routers. Would be a cool luxury to have though for those that do alot of network sharing.

They are sourcing that from the same Tech Daily article that someone posted on here earlier today, which as far as I know from the information we have gathered, is incorrect. As stated earlier (barring any changes from the test-unit to the production-unit), the processor is not underclocked, the chip they are referring to is a GSM chip, and the flash memory is 8GB (this is in regards to the article they reference back to). I don't have an Engadget account, but if you do, leave a comment showing them the screenshot that Stericson provided me as well as the dump showing the phone running at 999mhz.

I'm actually banking on Mini USB.

The FCC filing lists a MEC/Foxlink DC M410 USB cable (1.4m shielded cable without core). It also lists TC P300 charger which is sold on the net for the Touch HD and charges it with a mini USB.

by the way,

our friend BeerBar0n (aka Jeff Milligan VZW IT tech extraordinaire!?) replied to my tweet about the Incredible and it looks like this is the end of that lead.

@wonderbread57 good call on the a5 but no info on the incredible sorry.

The stalker patrol moves on...

Thats weird since NKT and Stericson both had micro on their source's test phones. (Isn't micro the future of where phone charging is going anyways? I haven't seen a mini in a long time)

Could very well be, the charger has a regular USB output I think so the other end of the M410 USB cable could be mini or micro. I wasn't able to find any inventory information about DC M410. I must have blinked when NKT said micro and missed that post.

You try this guy?
NathanHTC: Ready for CTIA. Stop by the HTC booth and we can explain why HTC is Quietly Brilliant! See you in Vegas... 4 days ago from HTC Peep
I posted it earlier but I'm not sure if anyone tried to contact him and see if he's willing to budge. Maybe even just asking if the Incredible will be at their booth or not.

by the custom wallpapers I mean pick any image off the computer/internet resize it to the wallpaper size on the phone and be able to set it as the wallpaper.

Yes, that is available. (Thats almost a standard now on most smartphones that I know of)
